After a brief pause, the promo gears for MBN’s Missing Crown Prince are now well oiled for the sageuk’s new April premiere, cranking out fresh stills in addition to the third teaser, where we re-meet our titular hero Suho (Behind Your Touch).
Alas, the supposed rom-com’s trailer greets us with conspiracy and danger in tow, showcasing a fictional Joseon where crown prince Lee Geon (Suho) fears that a target board is strapped to his head. Elsewhere, both king Jeon Jin-oh (Vigilante) and royal physician Kim Joo-hun (Castaway Diva) are attacked, while a sinister voice threatens in voiceover, “Bear this in mind, if you want to save the people you cherish.”
An angry Geon shouts, “Do you think their conniving will be forgiven after all this!?” But our hero’s hands are literally tied and he’s publicly paraded as a deposed prince, carted off for torture and interrogation. Unaware of the greater plan, queen dowager Myung Se-bin (Doctor Cha) pleads, “Didn’t you say that you would at least spare his life?” However, Geon is volun-told to take the fall by the same merciless voice: “Please die for everyone’s sake.”
In the appearing text screen, we then learn that Geon’s younger half-brother Minkyu (Maestra – Strings of Truth) is also a pawn in this story’s twisted destiny. Having fallen for Hong Ye-ji (Love Song for Illusion), her dad (Kim Joo-hun) offers her hand – but only if Prince Dosung (Minkyu) becomes the crown prince. But because that’s not enough ~drama~, Prince Dosung is pushed to protect the life of his mom and current queen Yoo Se-rye (Rookie Historian Gu Hae-ryung) as well.
On her part, Choi Myung-yoon (Hong Ye-ji) understands the burden of blame, believing that her cursed fate causes innocent people to die. Lee Geon then turns the misery arrow back onto himself, concluding, “This is the result of trusting people I never dreamed of suspecting. All this time, until now, the way they treated me was all pretense and lies.” Driving the final nail in the coffin, Prince Dosung and Lee Geon both decide that they are now officially enemies.
As we come to a close, the captions reveal Geon’s fiery resolve for revenge, leading a conspirator to panic that they could all be killed if Geon returns. Cue the court lady’s announcement that the crown prince has entered the palace. We then end the teaser as Geon dons his royal attire once again and reclaims his rightful position, stating, “I am this nation’s crown prince of Joseon.”
Helmed by PD Kim Jin-man (Rebel – Thief Who Stole the People) with co-writing by Bossam – Steal the Fate’s Kim Ji-soo and Park Chul, MBN’s Missing Crown Prince premieres on April 13 in the weekend slot.
