Kim Hye-joon Inherits Shop for Killers from Lee Dong-wook

A new poster and teaser have arrived for Disney+’s upcoming action A Shop for Killers, a secret business that our heroine Kim Hye-joon (Connect) comes to own, inheriting it from her shadowy uncle Lee Dong-wook (Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938) when he suddenly meets his death.

After she lost her parents, Jung Jin-man (Lee Dong-wook) had taken in his niece Jung Ji-ahn (Kim Hye-joon) and the trailer opens with a glimpse of their past, when the child Ji-ahn – played by Ahn Se-bin (Evilive) – had asked if Uncle will only be gone for a short while. Jin-man reassured her that he’d be back soon. But we quickly cut forward to the present, where the now adult Ji-ahn is faced with Jin-man’s funeral.

We then start to see suspicious people appearing in Ji-ahn’s vicinity, including an armed Seo Hyun-woo (Celebrity) and Geum Hae-na (Cannonball). In voiceover, we hear Jin-man’s advice to his niece: “Listen well, Jung Ji-ahn. Those who bark are the ones who are weak. If they were strong, they wouldn’t bark.” As Ji-ahn prepares for a fight, Uncle Jin-man continues to guide her through her training: “Open your eyes wider, the more scared you get, and look straight. You have to get stronger.”

Meeting with Park Ji-bin (Blind), Ji-ahn consults him on her current predicament, revealing the text message that she received from the bank. Someone deposited 70,000,000 KRW to her account and the total balance is now 18,753,000,000. Yowzers. Digging deeper, they then find that the business Ji-ahn now owns is a website that sells weapons.

It doesn’t take long for the danger meter to go haywire and we hear Jin-man’s final warning that, “Every decision comes with responsibility. I’ll leave the choice to you.” With the intermittent text screens, the teaser then closes on the deciding question to our heroine: “The dangerous inheritance that your uncle left, will you continue to run that shopping mall?”

Production for the action drama is being led by a team of three with PD Lee Kwon (Rescue Me 2) having a hand in writing and directing, working together with PD Noh Kyu-yub at the helm and co-writing the scripts with Ji Ho-jin. Disney+’s A Shop for Killers will be holding their grand opening on January 17.
