Kim Ro-woon and Jo Yi-hyun Partner Up in The Matchmakers

Another teaser has dropped for KBS’s upcoming sageuk romantic-comedy The Matchmakers featuring its leads Kim Ro-woon (Destined With You) and Jo Yi-hyun (All of Us Are Dead). Both are widowed at early ages, and though re-marriage might not be in the cards for them, their current marital status won’t stop them from helping others get hitched.

The latest teaser opens with “Wedding March” as Shim Jung-woo (Kim Ro-woon) and Jung Soon-deok (Jo Yi-hyun) make their entrances. Jung-woo declares that he has been writing marriage-related appeals for the last eight years, and Soon-deok calls herself the god of matchmaking. What happens then when a “pro annulment appealer” and a “god of matchmaking” cross paths? Hopefully lots of cute hijinks.

With a smile on her face and sparkles around her head, Soon-deok stretches and says that the weather is great for matchmaking. On the other hand, Jung-woo glares into the camera with a glint in his eye and seems overconfident in his abilities to play matchmaker.

Right off the bat, our two leads appear to be at odds as Jung-woo blocks Soon-deok’s path, and she curses him under her breath. However, the tides turn as Jung-woo finds himself moving away from Soon-deok and asking why she keeps getting closer. Pushing her with his finger, Jung-woo tells her to leave his side, and in response, Soon-deok grabs his leg.

The teaser then plays a quick sequence of Jung-woo and Soon-deok together from a trope-reversal of the falling into her arms to the classic accidental hand-touch. As Jung-woo bends down to look Soon-deok in the eyes, she states, “To summarize, the time frame is two months, and the entire process will be done with you, sir.” The teaser then ends with Jung-woo yelling, “This is where you end it? How evil!!!!”

Written by Ha Soo-jin (Sell Your Haunted House) and co-directed by PDs Hwang Seung-gi (Memorials) and Kim Soo-jin (Nineteen Otters), KBS’s The Matchmakers premieres on October 30 in the Monday-Tuesday slot.
