Oh boy, this looks fun! ENA’s first teaser for fantasy romance Moon in the Day has all the feels, and the character posters of stars Kim Young-dae (The Forbidden Marriage) and Pyo Ye-jin (Taxi Driver 2) are equally lovely, thematically referencing the past-present pull of our drama’s setup.
Reincarnation, love, and fate are our themes of the day. During the Shilla period, our heroine Han Ri-ta (Pyo Ye-jin) was responsible for killing her lover, aristocrat Do Ha (Kim Young-dae). The taglines on the character posters hint at this, with Pyo Ye-jin’s saying, “I love you, my lord” and Kim Young-dae’s saying, “This time, I’ll surely be the one to kill you first.”
In other words, Do Ha’s spirit is unable to move on after her betrayal and he becomes stuck in the mortal world. We meet both characters again in the present day, and it’s Do Ha’s perspective that we get in the teaser. Images of him gazing moodily are intercut with our heroine in both timelines, and Do Ha narrates: “I’m stuck in place, but you are flowing endlessly.”

Indeed, some 1500 years later, Ri-ta is now firefighter Kang Young-hwa, with no memory of her past life/lives. Do Ha’s modern-day counterpart is Han Jun-oh, and after an accident, he’s overtaken by Do Ha’s vengeful spirit — hence the tagline that he’ll be the one to kill her first this time.
Sounds dramatic for sure, but this is also dramaland, so: hijinks. In the present day, Jun-oh happens to be a needy top star, and Young-hwa becomes his reluctant bodyguard. The entire setup is ripe for mayhem and misunderstandings, as much as it is fated love across lifetimes. Dramaland loves this sort of story lately — and lucky me, so do I.
Directed by PD Pyo Min-soo (The Third Charm, The Producers) and adapted from the webtoon by Kim Hye-won, Moon in the Day premieres on October 25 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.
