A new teaser has dropped for SBS’s War for Survival (previously Escape of the Seven) and be careful with the volume levels because this brand of ~drama~ comes with a generous heaping of shrieks.
Gathering all our shady characters at the party of all parties, the teaser opens on a beautiful remote island. In voiceover, we’re told that according to legend, this island is cursed! But what started off as an amusing anecdote becomes a cruel reality as the island quickly turns from heaven into hell.
A bewildered woman exclaims, “Are you saying that only seven people can survive from this island?!” and another screams that she’s going to survive no matter what. In the text screen that follows, we read the warning: “Escape before your sins are revealed!”
We then cut to a hysterical Lee Yubi (Yumi’s Cells 2) who calmly says, “We killed someone,” and Lee Joon (Red Heart) defends that it was either us or them. Through gritted teeth, Hwang Jung-eum (Men Are Men) begins their cover story that, “We never came here today.” Jo Yoon-hee (Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life) agrees, reasoning that, “No one else saw us.”
An exuberant Shin Eun-kyung (Penthouse 3) declares that luck is on their side. But a group of men are onto Lee Joon and an angry voice argues, “Do you think you can run away forever?” Still, Hwang Jung-eum remains resolute, denying that she ever did such a thing.
Jumping to a car accident scene, Yoon Jong-hoon (Shooting Stars) explains on a phone call that, “You need to thoroughly stomp on them, to make sure they don’t cause trouble again.” We then see Eom Ki-joon (Little Women) lurking in the background as we hear his ominous and signature laugh.
The teaser then ends on a burning photo and, in voiceover, a woman makes a desperate and scary demand: “Put a stop to it using any method! Even if it means killing…”
On the production side, the team is being led by the makjang extravaganza makers PD Joo Dong-min and writer Kim Soon-ok, who collaborated previously on An Empress’s Dignity and the Penthouse series.
SBS’s War for Survival premieres next month on September 15, following The First Responders 2 in the weekend slot.
