King the Land: A Must-Watch Premiere Review

King the Land: A Must-Watch Premiere Review

Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: JTBC
Genre: Rom-com
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: Reasons to watch, you ask? The first reason is Junho. The second reason is the drama’s promised quintessential rom-com setup. Between those two things, there is nothing but an open door. We have suffered a long drama drought this year where romances have disappointed, and OTPs have failed to deliver adequate feels, so this drama doesn’t even have to work hard to be the best rom-com of 2024. Not that it still shouldn’t try.

Junho plays our perfect chaebol heir who can’t get his love life together… and then he meets the hotelier who works at his hotel — smile queen Yoon-ah — and it only gets more so. From the drama’s ultra swoony first peek, to the subsequent teasers that revealed the drama’s sense of humor and plot, there isn’t a drama fan out there who isn’t aware King the Land is being sold as the rom-com of the season. And I say, show us what you’ve got, Show!

TL;DR: Junho Junho Junho Junho Junho A tropey rom-com that checks all the boxes
