The mystical fates have brought our leads together again in MBC’s newest teaser and stills for their fantasy romance Kkokdu’s Season, which stars Kim Jung-hyun (Mr. Queen), Im Soo-hyang (Doctor Lawyer), Dasom (Was It Love), and Ahn Woo-yeon (Young Lady and Gentleman).
It’s been 99 years since grim reaper Kkokdu (Kim Jung-hyun) stepped foot on the earth and he’s back again to decree his divine punishment on humankind, this time embodying the human Dr. Do Jin-woo. This brings him to encounter our heroine, Dr. Han Gye-jeol (Im Soo-hyang), who seems to have a mysterious power of her own.
In the newly released stills, we also meet fellow doctor Tae Jung-won (Dasom) as well as Gye-jeol’s younger brother, Detective Han Cheol (Ahn Woo-yeon).
The newest teaser opens with Kkokdu and Gye-jeol’s first re-meet over a bridge, where our OTP walk past each other as strangers – unaware of their past connection. But something causes them to both pause and look back, triggering a painful memory for our grim reaper. The hazy flashback then shows us a crying Gye-jeol as Kkokdu fights in battle.
The present-day Gye-jeol looks concerned when Kkokdu falls back, trying to block the ringing in his ears. But he quickly gets up to grab onto Gye-jeol, demanding to know who she is. The moment then freezes for our pair as we return to the past again. But this time we see a happier Kkokdu who presents Gye-jeol with a ring. Transitioning back to the present again, the teaser closes on our two leads as they stay standing together atop the bridge.
Co-written by Kang Yi-heon (Bad Detective) and Heo Joon-woo (Bad Detective) with PD Baek Soo-chan (Alice) and PD Kim Ji-hoon (Check Out the Event) co-directing, MBC’s Kkokdu’s Season premieres next month on January 27 in the Friday-Saturday slot.
