Eom Ji-won Cares for the Five Eagle Brothers: A Heartwarming Tale

Script reading stills are out for KBS’s upcoming weekender Please Take Care of the Five Eagle Brothers, featuring two bereaved spouses who find their way into each other’s lives despite their opposing personalities. Described as a warm family drama, the show will explore themes of grief and healing.

Eom Ji-won (Cold Blooded Intern) stars as Ma Kwang-sook, the capable and driven section chief of the Shiwan Post Office. With her lively and genial demeanor, Kwang-sook is a go-getter who doesn’t hesitate to pursue her goals. That’s how she’s built herself into a career woman that anyone would envy, remaining single till the age of 45. Then she meets Oh Jang-soo — played by Lee Pil-mo (Destined with You) — and they decide to tie the knot.

Alas, tragedy strikes barely a fortnight after their wedding. Jang-soo loses his life in an accident, leaving the freshly-widowed Kwang-sook to pick up the pieces. And she does just that. Not only does Kwang-sook step into his shoes as the CEO of Eagle Brewery, but she also takes his four younger brothers under her wing.

Amongst the siblings, the next eldest is Choi Dae-chul (Love Your Enemy) as the stoic Oh Chun-soo, whose wife and daughter live abroad so the latter can pursue her studies. Next is Kim Dong-wan (No Work) playing Oh Heung-soo, an energetic Zumba instructor who was once a well-known backup dancer. Then there’s Yoon Park (Cinderella at 2AM) as Oh Beom-soo, the elite ace of the family who harbors both impressive academic credentials and a well-kept secret. Finally, we have Lee Seok-gi in the role of Oh Kang-soo, the youngest brother in the UDT special forces.

Just as Kwang-sook is settling into her new family, she winds up crossing paths with Han Dong-seok, the wealthy chairman of LX Hotel. Played by Ahn Jae-wook (Not Others), Dong-seok is prickly and arrogant, often taking a black and white view on most matters. Ever since his wife passed away fifteen years ago, Dong-seok has lived an awfully lonely life, shutting himself off from others — that is, until he meets Kwang-sook.

With the rest of the cast filled out by Park Jun-geum (Doctor Cha), Kim Jun-bae (When the Phone Rings), Choi Byung-mo (Evilive), and Bae Hae-seon (Bad Memory Eraser), just to name a few, it seems we’re in for a mature tale of familial bonds and coming to terms with the past.

Helmed by PD Choi Sang-yeol (My Lovely Boxer) and penned by Gu Hyun-sook (Never Twice), Please Take Care of the Five Eagle Brothers premieres next year on February 1.
