In the office romance of SBS’s Love Scout, the conscientious CEO of a headhunting company finds herself slowly falling for her steadfast (and suave) secretary. She’s determined to push him away, but her denial of her fluttering heart won’t last all that long.
The drama’s second teaser opens with said secretary’s self-introduction: “Nice to meet you, I’m Yoo Eun-ho,” greets Lee Jun-hyuk (Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard). He promises to work hard, but perhaps his fervent enthusiasm comes on a tad too strong for his boss. CEO Kang Ji-yoon — played by Han Ji-min (Behind Your Touch) — expresses her distaste for her new assistant, tossing the cup of coffee Eun-ho made for her straight into the trash after just one sip.
A confused Eun-ho can’t help but wonder if he’s being fired, taken aback by how firmly Ji-yoon is drawing the line between them. Still, if his smooth fist-pump-and-spin in front of the coffee machine is any indication, one thing he’s chock-full of is an unabashed tenacity — even if it invites an incredulous stare from Ji-yoon. When Eun-ho asks if she still feels awkward around him, Ji-yoon pointedly counters with a question of her own, asking if they’re supposed to be close. “That’s a shame,” Eun-ho remarks on his way out, clearly wanting to close the distance between them.
Set on crossing the boundary that separates them one step at a time, Eun-ho grows closer to Ji-yoon slowly but surely. Or perhaps not quite that slowly? One moment, he’s scalding his tongue on fishcake soup at a pojangmacha — cue a tiny amused shrug from Ji-yoon — and the next, they’re flailing around the living room of what is presumably Eun-ho’s apartment, looking very much like the morning after. Oops?
“It’s not like we held hands,” insists Ji-yoon. “What, did we do it?” Her forthright query flusters Eun-ho, who’s looking very cute with his hair down. Unfortunately for Ji-yoon, the more she tries to put space between them, the more they inevitably end up growing closer. Before long, they find themselves in a secret relationship, stealing tender moments behind closed office doors. Eun-ho taps her lips gently, melting at her cuteness; Ji-yoon gazes up at him bashfully, looking very much smitten.
So much for saying an office romance is a recipe for disaster, Ji-yoon. “Dating within our workplace? There’s definitely no such thing,” claims Eun-ho, even as he can’t keep his eyes off his boss. As for Ji-yoon, she’s finally come to accept her feelings at long last. “Yoo Eun-ho is just too darn cute,” she sighs dreamily, unable to conceal the wide smile that blooms across her face.
Directed by PDs Ham Jun-ho (My Strange Hero, Payback) and Kim Jae-hong, with scripts by Ji Eun, Love Scout is slated to premiere on January 3.
