Catching the next shuttle up to tvN’s When the Stars Gossip, the next stop is space for our large cast led by Lee Min-ho (Pachinko) and Gong Hyo-jin (When the Camellia Blooms) in the sci-fi rom-com’s new posters and video teaser.
Taking a look into the work and life on a space station, our story is an office drama of sorts but it’s a strange place to exist as Commander Eve Kim (Gong Hyo-jin) narrates, “You’ll know when you come to this vast universe where there is no beginning and no end. Everything here is zero grams.” And cue the earthling-out-of-gravity antics as space tourist Gong Ryong (Lee Min-ho) struggles to adjust.
Adrift without gravity’s tether and not knowing what to do, Ryong clings like a child to an increasingly frustrated Eve, who questions why she’s being treated like a tourist nanny. Ryong then tries to prove his doctor merits, but nearly strains his eyes trying to thread a needle and a tired Eve remarks that this is going to take all day.
Returning to more serious matters, Eve informs Ryong about their emergency protocols, explaining that the commander has to be the first to die. Though Ryong wonders about her principles and rules, as an OBGYN he relates when Eve continues that, “There is no rule more important than protecting life and working to create life.” The teaser then closes with our leads establishing mutual trust and as Ryong reassures Eve that he’s her doctor, she replies in turn that she’s his commander.
As seen in the posters, the series also stars Oh Jung-se (Mr. Plankton), Kim Joo-hun (The Tyrant), and Lee El (Mr. Plankton), as well as Lee Cho-hee (Once Again) and Heo Nam-joon (When the Phone Rings) among others in the ensemble cast.
Written by Seo Sook-hyang (Iron Family, Jealousy Incarnate) with PD Park Shin-woo (Lovestruck in the City, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay) at the helm, tvN’s upcoming When the Stars Gossip will be launching on January 4 in the weekend slot.
