We’re now five days away from opening The Trunk’s ~mysteries~ on Netflix and the new preview gives us a peek into Pandora’s box, revealing life after the contract wedding between Seo Hyun-jin (Why Her) and Gong Yoo (The Silent Sea).
With the papers now signed and her bags all unpacked, we begin the teaser with Noh In-ji (Seo Hyun-jin) settling into what will be her home during her one-year marriage with Han Jung-won (Gong Yoo). Despite being the newcomer, though, In-ji appears to be at ease and lounges in the living room to watch a football match on TV.
In contrast, Jung-won is very much on the edge and blames his aggravation on the noise from the TV, explaining that he suffers from insomnia and is dependent on medications. But it can’t simply be the TV as In-ji does turn it off and it’s curious to see how Jung-won seems triggered by other things in his own eerie home.
Understanding that there may be a deeper source behind Jung-won’s sensitivities, the preview then ends with In-ji’s honest reassurance. She doesn’t have any ulterior motives – this is just her job’s work after all – and there’s no need for Jung-won to be overly guarded. It hasn’t been clarified, of course, but it’s probably not a stretch to speculate that Jung-won’s ex-wife is connected with all this mess.
But while I’m anxious for answers, thankfully the wait won’t be too long with Netflix’s The Trunk coming to our screens on November 29 later this week. Directed by PD Kim Kyu-tae (Our Blues) with Park Eun-young (Hwarang) writing, the mystery-melo has also lined up some intriguing cameos including Lee Jung-eun (The Frog), Cha Seung-won (The Tyrant), and Jung Kyung-ho (Crash Course in Romance) among others.
