King Dong-wook, Kim Sung-kyu, Chae Jung-ahn
Kim Dong-wook (You Are My Spring), Kim Sung-kyu (A Piece of Your Mind), and Chae Jung-ahn (Monthly Magazine Home) have been cast in the drama adaptation of the animated film, King of Pigs. The drama is a crime thriller that begins with a mysterious message from a friend from twenty years ago. Events unfold centering around a serial murder case.
Kim Dong-wook plays Hwang Kyung-min, a man who experienced traumatic school bullying twenty years ago. He married and was living a happy life with his wife when an incident prompts him to remember and relive those horrific memories.
Kim Sung-kyu plays Jung Jong-seok, a detective who pursues the trail left behind by a friend’s message from twenty years ago. It causes him to remember the violence he experienced all those years ago at school and makes him more determined to prevent the murders that are happening in the present.
Last but not least, Chae Jung-ahn plays charismatic detective Kang Jin-ah. She’s normally a strict rule-follower, but when she gets fixated on a case, she’ll go through hell or high water to solve it. In the drama, she’s Jung Jong-seok’s sunbae from the police academy. Because of her independent investigations, she’s often on the receiving end of many complaints, but she never wavers in her focus.
The original animated film King of Pigs was written and directed by award-winning Train of Busan director Yeon Sang-ho. It went on to receive critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012. Thus, the anticipation for the drama adaptation has been high.
TVING original series King of Pigs, directed by Kim Dae-jin and written by Tak Jae-young, will begin filming in August.
