Romantic Medical Drama: Love Triangle in You Raise Me Up

Yoon Shi-yoon, Hani, Park Ki-woong

Yaas! My boy Park Ki-woong (Old School Intern) is making a quick comeback alongside Yoon Shi-yoon (Train) and EXID’s Hani (Not Yet Thirty). The project is a Wavve original 8-part mini-series called You Raise Me Up.

Described as a sexy cheerful comedy, You Raise Me Up is about a thirty-one-year-old man who has spent the last several years studying for the civil service exam with nothing to show for it, other than the paunch around his waist. The stress has even created urological problems that leads him to a clinic. There, he finds out that his attending doc is his first love.

Enter Hani, a beautiful, capable physician with an excellent family background as well. If she had one blemish in her life, it would be her arrogant boyfriend whose self-confidence knows no bounds. In order to knock him down a notch, she claims that her first love was the perfect man. However, when she meets Yoon Shi-yoon, she sees that his confidence is at an all-time low due to his erectile dysfunction issues, and she makes it her mission to restore his confidence (if only to prove to her boyfriend that she was right).

Park Ki-woong plays Hani’s excessively self-confident boyfriend. He’s a psychiatrist that runs a therapy center in the same building as Hani’s urology clinic. He was born wealthy, opened his own private practice at a young age, and on top of that, he’s been blessed with a handsome face. His only flaw is that he knows his good qualities too well, and makes the people around him uncomfortable with his self-love and casual condescension.

I’m definitely getting some Sex In the City vibes on this one. Park Ki-woong playing a blustering psychiatrist sounds like a hoot, although I’m pretty sure second lead syndrome will hit me hard when it comes.

You Raise Me Up has begun filming, and will likely air sometime this summer.
