Netflix series Move to Heaven: We are Trauma Cleaners has released a new poster and teaser. Lee Je-hoon (Taxi Driver) stars as the guardian of Tang Joon-sang (Crash Landing on You), a trauma cleaner who has Asperger’s syndrome.
The drama was inspired by nonfiction essay, “Things that are left behind after they leave,” by one of the first traumer cleaners, Kim Sae-byul. Going from home to home, cleaning the possessions of people who have passed away, Lee Je-hoon and Tang Joon-sang learn the stories of those possessions and help convey the messages the deceased wanted to express in their last moments. The poster shows Lee Je-hoon and Tang Joon-sang walking on a street on a bright spring day. Cherry blossom petals fall around them, as Tang Joon-sang follows behind Lee Je-hoon, carrying a box of possessions.
In the teaser, the camera zooms in on Tang Joon-sang putting on his headphones. He introduces himself as “Han Geu-ru, a trauma cleaner.” Lee Je-hoon watches him from behind, as Tang Joon-sang prepares to help the deceased with their final “move.” Item by item, Tang Joon-sang and Lee Je-hoon pack everything up, and once the camera finishes panning around the room, it’s empty.
A close-up shot of Tang Joon-sang is shown with his eyes closed. A worn watch disappears; the family in a sentimental photo disappear as copy appears onscreen:
“Every death as a story to tell
We light your untold stories so they can live on”
Tang Joon-sang’s eyes open, and Lee Je-hoon smiles as if he is proud of him. Tang Joon-sang closes up the box that contains a room with a miniature of himself doing the same thing. In the final narration, Lee Je-hoon says, “We are Move to Heaven”
If that warm-hearted teaser wasn’t enough to entice you, you can also look forward to some special cameos by Ji Jin-hee (Undercover) and Lee Jae-wook (Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol).
Directed by Kim Sung-ho (How to Steal a Dog) and written by Yoon Ji-ryun (Angel Eyes), human interest drama Move to Heaven will premiere on Netflix on May 14.
