Youth of May Releases New Stills with Lee Do-hyun, Go Min-shi, Lee Sang-yi

New character stills have been released for KBS’s upcoming romance drama Youth of May, featuring its main cast: Lee Do-hyun (Sweet Home), Go Min-shi (Sweet Home), and Lee Sang-yi (Once Again).

The drama takes place in May of 1980, a troubled period in South Korean history when ongoing political and social conflicts were reverberating across the country. In a moment of hopeful spring though, amidst the dangerous climate, our two leads are brought together by fate and they fall in love.

Lee Do-hyun takes on the role of medical college student Hwang Hui-tae. Being at the top of his class and attending the prestigious Seoul National University, people often assume that all he does is stay home and study. But he makes an effort to set aside time for other interests, such as tinkering with his guitar or visiting music cafés. Although he’s always felt like he never quite belonged anywhere, everything changes when something unexpected happens in his life.

Go Min-shi plays Kim Myung-hee, who has been working as a nurse for 3 years now. Rather than a white-robed angel, it is more fitting to describe her as a white-robed warrior as she works tirelessly to do her job well and make a living for herself. Having lived a tough life, she is elated when she finally starts seeing an opportunity to make her dream a reality but fate throws her another unexpected twist.

Lee Sang-yi’s character is businessman Lee Soo-chan. He had the privilege of studying business administration abroad in France and now works at his family’s trading company. But the increasing political rumblings in Korea have made the economic market unstable as well and he ends up signing a precarious contract in order to save his family’s struggling business.

Written by Lee Kang (Spy) and directed by PD Song Min-yeop (Doctor Prisoner), Youth of May is set to premiere next month and will be airing Mondays and Tuesdays on KBS.
