Jo Seung-woo, Park Shin-hye
In celebration of JTBC’s 10th anniversary next year, a special fantasy-mystery drama is being put together called Sisyphus: the Myth which stars actors Jo Seung-woo (Forest of Secrets 2) and Park Shin-hye (Memories of the Alhambra).
Jo Seung-woo plays a highly intelligent engineer named Han Tae-sool. He is one of the founders of a successful company called Quantum and Time and his developments have helped build the company to grow worldwide. Due to his innovations, he is well known and well-loved by the people of Korea. However, what they don’t know is that the company stocks have been unstable since his older brother suddenly died 10 years ago. And when Jo finally learns the truth behind his brother’s death, he embarks on a dangerous journey that will forever change his life.
Park Shin-hye takes on the role of Kang Seo-hae, who lives in the attic loft of a skyscraper in Seoul and is described as a warrior. Highly skilled in combat fighting, sniper work, and planting bombs, whether they be man or woman, gangster or warlord, she can take them down. Although we don’t yet know the reasons why, the story has her travelling far and wide in order to meet Jo Seung-woo’s character and rescue him.
I’m not sure how the original Greek legend of Sisyphus actually plays into the drama, but Jo Seung-woo is always a win. And I definitely like when Park Shin-hye plays interesting characters that are not run-of-the-mill, such as in You’re Beautiful or Flower Boy Next Door. It will be awesome to see her as a badass butt-kicking heroine who can hold her own in a fight.
On the production side, we’re in good hands with PD Jin Hyuk (Legend of the Blue Sea, Master’s Sun, City Hunter) in the director’s chair and scripts were penned collaboratively by married couple Lee Jae-in and Jeon Chan-ho.
Filming for Sisyphus: the Myth has already been completed and the show is currently in post-production. The premiere is set for early next year in 2024.
