I can’t contain my excitement for upcoming tvN fantasy romance drama Tale of the Nine Tailed. Starring Jo Boa (Forest) and Lee Dong-wook (Hell is Other People), the drama is set in the modern era but has an ancient fairy tale twist.
Lee Dong-wook’s character is a male nine-tailed fox named Lee Yeon who has learned to live amongst humans. Originally the guardian of the Baekdu-daegan mountain range, he’s since settled in downtown Seoul where he travels to-and-from the mortal world and the afterlife, killing demons that lurk in-between. Despite his hundreds of years of knowledge and bestial instincts, he’s a mysterious character who has learned to completely assimilate into human society.
Jo Boa plays an energetic, competitive PD who specializes in making supernatural-investigative TV programs. Ever since her parents disappeared after a strange car accident 20 years ago, she’s had an unflagging passion for bizarre occurrences and ghost stories. Once she gets a whiff that a real gumiho might be in her city, she begins to pursue him relentlessly.
The recently released stills of Lee Dong-wook’s first day of filming show an intense action sequence occurring at a wedding venue. Jo Boa’s stills show her doing some hardcore investigating to follow some leads on gumiho Lee Dong-wook.
Wednesday-Thursday tvN drama Tale of the Nine Tailed, directed by Kang Shin-hyo (Children of a Lesser God, Heirs) and written by Han Woo-ri, will begin in October.
