With the premiere just one week away, tvN’s upcoming weekend drama Forest of Secrets 2 has released another teaser featuring its main cast.
The drama brings back lonely prosecutor Jo Seung-woo (Life) and warm-hearted police officer Bae Doo-na (Kingdom), reprising their roles from season 1, to team up once again and tackle a new case.
This time, though, their partnership will be tested by rising tensions between the police force, led by chief officer Jeon Hye-jin (Search Query: WWW), and the prosecution team, who are supported by Choi Moo-sung (Nokdu Flower). The main point of contention being who has the power to do what in criminal investigations and law enforcement.
The newly released teaser focuses on this internal conflict and starts with shots of the two teams walking down hallways, on their way to a joint press conference. In voice-over, Choi Moo-sung explains, “There’s going to be an investigations conference meeting.” The two teams stand together for a group press photo and Jeon Hye-jin makes a pointed remark, “Is it not the purpose of our meeting to allow prosecutors and police to discuss this issue personally and create a new reform together?” A text screen appears, which reads: “A thrilling conflict begins between two polarizing teams as they discuss amendments to the rights of investigation by the prosecution and police.”
Cut to a stoic Park Sung-geun (Memorials) trailed by a crowd of reporters, followed by shots of a police press briefing. Jo Seung-woo starts the discussion by saying, “If we want to prevent this amendment from becoming like changing hospitals without regard to the illness itself, then shouldn’t there be distinctions between the prosecution and police? Even if it’s just one distinction?” To that point, Bae Doo-na counters, “It’s by going to a different hospital, that you can find a different form of treatment.” In a text screen, we see: “Hwang Shi-mok x Han Yeo-jin. An investigative story, uncovering truths amid an internal conspiracy.”
It cuts to a swarm of reporters surrounding a large crime scene as the police team try to investigate. In a sequence of close-up shots, we get another look at the drama’s main players. And the teaser comes to a close as we hear an unknown man’s sinister voice, “You’re just a well-sharpened knife. I only need to take it out and use it for difficult jobs.”
In anticipation of Forest of Secrets 2, tvN will be airing daily reruns of the first season starting Monday, August 10 up until the second season’s premiere on Saturday.
Written by Lee Soo-yeon (Life, Forest of Secrests) and directed by PD Park Hyun-seok (Dance Sports Girls), Forest of Secrets 2 will be premiering next week on August 15.
