Family melo Record of Youth (a.k.a. Youth Records) has just released a second teaser, giving us more insight on protagonist Park Bo-gum (Boyfriend) and his struggle to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor.
Featuring Park Bo-gum, Park So-dam (Parasite) and Byun Woo-seok (Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency), this drama is centered on youths who, even after hitting up against the walls of reality, don’t despair. Regardless of setbacks, they continue to work toward realizing their dreams and relationships.
Everyone moves busily backstage as Park Bo-gum prepares to walk down the runway as a model. The lights turn on, and Park Bo-gum’s narration begins to sound, “For my friend, dreams are what protects him…” We skip to the next scene where he’s acting as a mobster, but the director yells at him for screwing up. Park Bo-gum continues, “…But to me, dreams are homework that cost a lot of money.”
Other than the runway and the movie set, Park Bo-gum’s lifestyle is just like any other ordinary youth’s. Because his dream to be an actor isn’t panning out well, he does other part-time work to supplement his income. What makes him worry is that the people around him keep telling him he’s giving up his entire youth to an impossible dream. He contemplates to himself, “I don’t have much time left.” But we do end on a hopeful note, with him and his two friends running excitedly through the streets.
tvN Monday-Tuesday drama Record of Youth, directed by Ahn Kil-ho (Watcher) and written by Ha Myung-hee (Temperature of Love), will begin airing on September 7.
