A new video teaser has been released for OCN’s new fantasy mystery Train, featuring lead actor Yoon Shi-yoon (Psychopath Diary).
The story is centered around a serial murder case and an incident that took place one fateful night. A crucial decision was made in that moment and it creates a crossroads between two parallel worlds as a consequence.
Yoon Shi-yoon stars in the drama as police officer Seo Do-won, who is a team lead in the violent crimes unit. Hardworking and dedicated to his job, he puts his whole self into capturing criminals. He does his best to do good deeds and make up for the crimes committed by his father. In the parallel reality, however, he discovers a different version of himself. Although still a police officer, his alternate has chosen a life of corruption and danger due to his father’s crimes.
The new video teaser focuses on Yoon Shi-yoon’s two characters and it starts with a hooded figure standing near train tracks in the rain. We hear Yoon in voice-over, “In this world, there is another me.” There are brief shots showing the different appearances of the same church building in the two worlds before cutting back to Yoon. He speaks to someone off-screen, “Do you not know who I am?”
As a clock ticks loudly in the background, there is a sequence of shots showing the two Yoon Shi-yoon’s in split-screen as they search for clues. On the left side, the scenes are filtered in warm colors. In contrast, the right side is colored in cooler tones.
In the closing shots, each character stands by the same train tracks in their respective worlds. Captions describe the left Yoon as, “the police officer who chose a life of atonement.” The right side reads: “the police officer who chose a path of corruption.” As the video comes to a close, the caption changes to: “Mystery of parallel worlds.” And Yoon repeats it in voice-over, “A mystery of parallel worlds. Train.”
Will parallel worlds be the new dramaland trend? Though it wasn’t a parallel world, Yoon Shi-yoon did an impressive job in Psychopath Diary doubling up on roles as two characters on opposite ends of the personality spectrum so it will be interesting to see how he handles a role that straddles two worlds.
Writing for the drama is Park Ga-yeon and directing will done collaboratively by PDs Lee Seung-hoon and Ryu Seung-jin (Crazy Waiting). OCN’s mystery drama Train is currently set to air next month, in July.
