In the new teaser for rom-com drama Men Are Men (previously known as That Guy Is the Guy), Hwang Jung-eum (Mystic Pop-up Bar) waits in a wedding dress with a bouquet of yellow roses. She plays a single-by-choice lady who is strongly anti-marriage. One day, she gets the love confessions of two very different men, played by Seo Ji-hoon (Welcome) and Yoon Hyun-min (My Holo Love).
The teaser narration begins with voices that doubt Hwang Jung-eum’s mindset on marriage: “The people that say they don’t want to get married always get married first.” Another voice chimes in to say, “It’s not that they don’t want to get married. They probably can’t get married.” At that, Hwang Jung-eum throws over her bouquet and says her goodbye to the world of social norms.
Lifting her dress, she reveals bright orange Converses that she uses to leap into the air. Following her to the roof, we see two young men running up the stairs with all their might. They call out for her, but by the time Seo Ji-hoon and Yoon Hyun-min arrive, she’s already in the sky, waving her last goodbyes, “Goodbye everyone, I’ve shaken off the restraints of that thing called marriage. I’ve found happiness–being single! Be happy everyone!” They’re left wondering what’s happening as she disappears into a star.
It’s an interesting casting choice to have both Seo Ji-hoon and Yoon Hyun-min playing two sides of a love triangle, since they had a similar dynamic in the last project they shot together, Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter. Luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer to see who the official OTP turns out to be.
The PD attached to direct is Choi Yoon-seok (Queen of Mystery 2, Chief Kim) with Lee Eun-young (Standby) penning the script. Monday-Tuesday KBS drama Men Are Men is set to air beginning July 6.
