A new video teaser has been released for SBS’s upcoming rom-com Convenience Store Saet-byul, featuring lead actors Ji Chang-wook (Melting Me Softly) and Kim Yoo-jung (Clean With Passion for Now).
The story takes place at a 24-hour convenience store where Ji Chang-wook plays dorky store manager Choi Dae-hyun. Kim Yoo-jung is the new quirky part-time worker, Jung Saet-byul.
The teaser starts with a montage of a Ji Chang-wook falling asleep at work. He scrambles awake when the door chimes ring, signalling a customer, and wipes the drool off his face as a dolled-up Kim Yoo-jung walks up to the counter. He asks in confusion, “Same team?” and Kim smiles in response. Intercutting text screens introduce the drama’s director, PD Lee Myung-woo, who directed The Fiery Priest.
Cut to Ji Chang-wook complaining about Kim Yoo-jung, but he trips before he can finish the sentence: “Trying to mooch off my convenience store, I see. Why I oughta…” We see Kim throwing cash up into the air and having fun at the counter, and she asks, “Are you suspicious of me?” Ji continues to watch her at work and when he follows her outside, he receives a swift kick to the face. Additional text screens read, “Romantic Comedy” and “24 hours of non-stop comedy.”
The teaser comes to a close with Ji Chang-wook and Kim Yoo-jung facing-off and posturing at each other while the captions explain the drama premieres in June. And we get a brief glimpse of supporting actor Eum Moon-seok (The Fiery Priest) who says: “We’re almost there, just wait a little longer.”
Written by Sohn Geun-joo and directed by PD Lee Myung-woo (The Fiery Priest, Whisper), Convenience Store Saet-byul premieres June 12 and will be airing Fridays and Saturdays on SBS.
