A new teaser has been released for My Unfamiliar Family, tvN’s latest project focused on changing relationships as people mature through life. Specifically, it’ll look at the misunderstandings and consideration between family that sometimes makes it easier to open up to strangers and create even closer relationships.
In the teaser, as graduation photos of Chu Ja-hyun (Arthdal Chronicles) and Han Ye-ri (Nokdu Flower) are shown on the wall, Shin Jae-ha (VIP), who plays the maknae sibling, narrates: “Even though we are definitely a family…” Then we see their parents sitting far apart from each other in the living room underneath the family motto that reads: “Love makes a harmonious family.”
Mom’s phone call is ignored. Then Shin Jae-ha finishes his train of thought, “It’s hard to understand anything about them…from my mom to my sisters.” Then the slow, mysterious music of the teaser changes to a more lively tune. Both sisters simultaneously berate him and tell him to shut up.
It looks like a family mystery is unveiled, as we see part of an old photo from a man’s wallet. It’s something to do with the father, played by Jung Jin-young (Chief of Staff 2). Chu Ja-hyun and her husband, played by Kim Tae-hoon (Kingdom 2), rush to the hospital concerned. Meanwhile, Han Ye-ri parties hard at a karaoke bar where she steals away for a secret kiss.
Copy flashes onscreen that says: “Even though we don’t know much, we are a family.” In the next scene, Han Ye-ri is on the phone, asking why the other party is so curious. Shin Jae-ha seems to be on the other line telling her, “I don’t know.” The last scene shows an enraged Jung Jin-young shouting at the household, still with a mouthful of toothpaste.
tvN Monday-Tuesday drama My Unfamiliar Family begins on June 1.
