Jo Yeo-jung, Go Joon
Parasite actress Jo Yeo-jung and rising star Go Joon (Fiery Priest, Oh My Baby) are in talks for a new project called If You Have an Affair, You’ll Die. It looks like they’re still in preliminary phases of reviewing the project, but it would be a hot matchup if they confirm.
The drama is supposed to be a comedic take on the horrific experiences that guilt-ridden adults who do bad things undergo. Jo Yeo-jung has been offered the role of a best-selling mystery novel author who likes killing characters off every few pages. She’s particularly remorseless when punishing cheating husband characters, to the point where her nickname is “Praying Mantis” after the cannibalistic tendencies of female praying mantises. In contrast with her nickname, her home life is actually amazing and she’s married to a younger man who’s a lawyer and so dedicated to their family that he could easily take the mantle of “Nation’s Husband” (think Nation’s Sweetheart).
Go Joon’s character is a divorce lawyer who listens to other people’s problems in love and separation and helps them sort through the splitting of finances and etc. He feels fulfillment by helping people through their times of painful emotional growth. He empathizes with his clients so much that he’s been thrown out of court several times for cursing out the other party, but other than that, he’s a great lawyer. It’s unclear as to whether he will be Jo Yeo-jung’s husband or a rival of some sort.
If You Have an Affair, You’ll Die, written by Lee Sung-min and directed by Kim Hyung-seok (My Golden Life), is such a new project that it does not yet have an air date or broadcasting station.
