New stills have been released featuring actors Yook Sung-jae (The Lonely Shining Goblin)and Hwang Jung-eum (Handsome Guy and Jung-eum) in JTBC’s upcoming fantasy Mystic Pop-up Bar.
The drama is centered around a mysterious pocha (food cart) that serves late-night food and drinks together with a sort of mystical counseling service. After a visit to the pocha, customers find comfort and closure for bitter frustrations and unfulfilled life desires through dreams.
Hwang Jung-eum plays the pocha owner Wol-joo, a prickly and gruff auntie figure who’s not quite of the mortal living world. Her business tactics and how she approaches customers seem strange on first glance. But there is a reason she is the way she is, and she’s been running the pocha in this fashion for 500 years now. She also has an end goal and she still needs to serve and help 10 more customers in order for her to finally finish her task.
Yook Sung-jae takes on the role of Han Gang-bae. His day job is at a customer service center for a large supermarket, but he comes to work part-time at the pocha as well. Courteous, friendly, and upright in personality, he does his very best to ensure customer satisfaction. However, he has a secret gift which is both a blessing and a curse. Whenever he makes physical contact with someone, they start telling him everything about their personal lives – even information they shouldn’t be disclosing.
Directing for the drama is PD Jeon Chang-geun (The Package, What Happens to My Family?) and scripts will be penned by writer Ha Yoon-ah.
JTBC’s new fantasy drama Mystic Pop-up Bar is currently set to air on Wednesdays and Thursdays next month, starting May 20, 2020.
