A new video teaser has been released for OCN’s new crime-action drama Team Bulldog: Off-duty Investigation, featuring lead actors Cha Tae-hyun (Matrimonial Chaos) and Lee Sun-bin (The Great Show).
The story is about an unlikely group of five individuals teaming up to fight crime, with the characters played by Cha Tae-hyun and Lee Sun-bin in the forefront. Together they form a motley crew as each of the members are considered to be outsiders or black sheep in their regular circles due to their unique personalities and working styles.
Cha Tae-hyun plays police officer Jin Kang-ho, who has a no-holds-barred approach to his job. His philosophy is that it doesn’t matter how things get done because capturing the criminals is what’s most important. He’s laser-focused on ensuring he gets his arrests. Even when taking a hit to the head, he’ll jump right back up again and stubbornly continue to chase his target.
Lee Sun-bin plays the role of PD Kang Moo-young, who produces a TV show about criminal investigations. Impulsive and zealous about becoming a TV legend, she always jumps in head first to chase stories for her show. Her desire to raise ratings pushes her to cross the line from just investigating criminal cases to actually trying to capture criminals.
The newly released video teaser starts with a close-up on Cha Tae-hyun as he points at someone off-screen, “Don’t move a muscle!” It cuts to Cha chasing after a man through a neighborhood and shouting, “Hey! Stop right there!” But as Cha runs around a corner, someone suddenly attacks him with a brick. Text screens intercut the scene, forming the sentence: “Capturing bad guys using any means or method.” In another scene, Cha Tae-hyun gestures at someone saying, “Let me hit you just 10 times. Come here.” And he throws his handcuffs at their feet. There is a sequence of shots showing Cha kicking a wastebasket, a man lying on the ground in pain, and Cha fighting off two men at the same time. Cut to Cha Tae-hyun who sarcastically makes conversation, “Oh, are you not in the mood to get arrested today? Should I come back again tomorrow?” Caption appears on the screen, introducing his character as: “Thick-headed police officer, Jin Kang-ho.”
The second half of the teaser focuses on Lee Sun-bin who crouches by a man and makes a screechy sound as she stands back up. We hear Cha Tae-hyun in voice-over asking, “What are you doing?” And Lee responds, “It’s because my income is on the line…” In a series of shots of Lee Sun-bin, we see her doing a range of things: putting eye drops in her eye, taking a photo of a piece of paper, wearing a motorcycle helmet, pushing past Cha Tae-hyun and another man, disguised in a wig, sneaking down a stairwell, and waving at someone. It cuts to a group of men throwing Lee into a pit and she yells, “That hurts!” A text screen appears with the words: “A person desperate for TV ratings, even if it means selling criminals.” Cut to a TV screen showing video footage of Lee Sun-bin lying in the pit. Off-screen, we hear Lee asking, “What do you think?” And a man replies, “It’s awesome.” The teaser comes to a close with a close-up of Lee Sun-bin as she confidently declares, “Let’s work hard and make broadcasting history!” The caption tells us her character is: “Passionate PD, Kang Moo-young.”
I’m pretty excited! Cha Tae-hyun has always been one of my favorite actors due to his natural charm and humor. And I’ve missed seeing him on the screen. Hopefully the wait until its premiere in May won’t feel too long!
Written by Jung Yoon-sun and Lee Yoo-jin (Missing Noir M), and directed by Kang Hyo-jin (The Dude in Me, Miss Wife); OCN’s Team Bulldog: Off-duty Investigation is currently set to premiere on May 23.
