Lee Dong-wook shines in tvN’s Reach of Sincerity

So far, we’ve been shown the comedy part of tvN’s upcoming Reach of Sincerity, and with its latest teaser, we’ve got the romance in the rom-com to squee over in anticipation. As many of you know, our main leads Lee Dong-wook and Yoo Inna are reuniting after having played star-crossed lovers in The Lonely Shining Goblin, and I, of one, am excited to see them fulfill all their rom-com potential.

The teaser starts like a typical scene out of a romance film, with the cheesy soundtrack and the bashful glances across the way. Lee Dong-wook gets his hero strut into the frame, and the two lovebirds gaze at each other, but the scene comes to a screeching halt when his attempts at confessing his love fall way short. The perfectionist lawyer in him surfaces, and his character starts spewing legal jargon like “recklessness” and “mental deficiency,” only to have Yoo Inna (appropriately) stop him in his tracks.

He’s so hopeless at this that he resorts to looking up the definition of love in the dictionary, which leads to his final take: “I believe I have sincerely fallen for you.” Oh swoon. And I believe Yoo Inna agrees with me, judging by her smile. Who can blame her? I also love how awkward Lee Dong-wook is, with his elbow nudge near the end of the clip. It’s a nice feeling, going into a drama knowing that the rom-com chemistry between the main leads works. Now, we can only hope that the rest of the drama can match that quality.

Reach of Sincerity will follow Boyfriend on tvN’s Wednesday-Thursday slot, premiering on February 6.
