Yeon Jung-hoon to Star in MBC’s My Healing Love

I’m always happy to hear about Yeon Jung-hoon (Bravo My Life) being cast in a new drama, though I do wish he’d come back from the land of weekenders. Yeon Jung-hoon has confirmed a leading role in the upcoming MBC weekend drama My Healing Love, joining another weekender veteran So Yoo-jin (Five Children).

In terms of plot, there’s not much available: All we know is that the story will follow the rise and eventual success of a woman comes from an underprivileged background. It’s a pretty generic description, but I love a good underdog success story because they can be very uplifting and inspiring when done well.

Yeon Jung-hoon has been taking some varied roles over the years, from unabashedly evil characters to the traditional and kind leading man, but I will always remember him as the moody Vampire Prosecutor. He might not be able to play him ever again (sob), but his memorable role in the crime thriller series means that I will continue to keep an eye on his future projects. Who knows, Yeon Jung-hoon might get me to tune into a weekender for once. I’m not as familiar with So Yoo-jin, but she seems to have a likeable screen presence, and I can see her and Yeon Jung-hoon being cute as an onscreen couple.

My Healing Love is due to premiere in late September on MBC.
