Reasons to watch: The main reason to check out this drama is for A-list actress Go Hyun-jung, who is headlining the legal thriller as an attorney defending a chaebol in a scandalous high society murder trial. It’s a mystery with four suspects—wealthy friends who are all trying to keep various skeletons in closets—and the lawyer and cop who are determined to dig those skeletons up. The cast includes Lee Jin-wook, Park Ki-woong, and Shin Sung-rok, so I do expect it to be well-acted all around.
I can’t say I’m dying to catch another legal thriller when there have been so many in dramaland lately, but maybe the whodunit aspect of the plot will make it stand out from the pack, or Go Hyun-jung’s character will. She’s playing a lawyer who came up from nothing, and was once a judge who lost her position for reasons she still doesn’t understand. She opens her own practice and becomes the MC of a legal television show that’s a smash hit, effectively making her the most famous and sought after legal counsel in the country.
Because the drama comes from a new writer, there’s not a lot to go on other than PD Joo Dong-min of Take Care of Us, Captain and Birth Secret, and the hope that Go Hyun-jung wouldn’t waste her time with a bad script. She’s too good to be wasted on a mediocre drama, ya hear me?
