Happy New Year, Happy 2020, and Happy Awards Season! The Korean award shows conquered everyone’s screens and pushed several dramas off the board, as is dramaland tradition. Weekday procedural drama Diary of a Prosecutor and weekend rom-com Crash Landing on You were pre-empted and very much missed. We’ll see how this affects their ratings next week.
Surprisingly enough, the award shows didn’t affect the rest of the chart ratings-wise. Popular dramas Black Dog and 9.9 Million Won Woman kept going about their business, pulling in high numbers, while underdog People With Flaws, as always, was struggling to hold on to 3.0 percent. As for this week’s success story, it has to go to Stove League, which made a valiant return with 14.1 percent. Not a bad start for what’s lookin’ to be a great year.
