Diary of a Prosecutor: First Script Read for Slice-of-Life Legal Drama

Legal office drama Diary of a Prosecutor recently held its first script read. The cast, led by Lee Seon-kyun (My Ajusshi) and Jung Ryeo-won (Greasy Melo), looks like it had a great time judging by the smiles in these shots.

Unlike the slick and powerful prosecutors featured in Suits, Scandal, and other media representations, the prosecutors of Diary of a Prosecutor are ordinary people who work out of a provincial office and help with everyday crimes like pickpocketing, voice phishing, fights between neighbors, and etc.

It seems like the perfect drama for power duo creator Park Yeon-sun and director Lee Tae-gon to tackle, as they were great with the slice-of-life drama series, Age of Youth and its sequel. At the script read, Director Lee said that he felt strengthened because the project has gathered a solid script and trustworthy actors.

As for the characters, Lee Seon-kyun plays a prosecutor with a strong survival instinct. Although he looks carefree and unambitious on the surface, he can pack a punch when he wants to. Meanwhile, Jung Ryeo-won plays an elite prosecutor who has no flaws, but she is somehow sent to the provincial office.

In addition to Lee Seon-kyun and Jung Ryeo-won, the following actors were present at the script read: Lee Sung-jae (Abyss), Kim Kwang-gyu (The Secret Life of My Secretary), Lee Sang-hee (One Spring Night), Baek Hyun-joo (When the Camellia Blooms), Jeon Sung-woo (Designated Survivor: 60 Days), Ahn Chang-hwan (Fiery Priest), Jung Jae-sung (Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency), and Ahn Eun-jin (Strangers From Hell).

Lee Sung-jae plays the head prosecutor that leads a squad of police investigators. Kim Kwang-gyu, Lee Sang-hee, and Jeon Sung-woo all play prosecutors as well. Additionally, Baek Hyun-joo, Ahn Chang-hwan, and Ahn Eun-jin will play investigators who work side-by-side with the prosecutors.

JTBC’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama Diary of a Prosecutor will begin on December 16.
