New posters and a video teaser has been released for MBC fantasy romance Extraordinary You (formerly A Day Found by Chance) featuring actors Kim Hye-yoon (SKY Castle), SF9’s Kim Ro-woon (Fox Bride Star), Lee Jae-wook (Search Query: WWW), and April’s Lee Na-eun.
In the story, Kim Hye-yoon takes on the role of the central character who one day discovers that her whole life was a fraud. Although she believed she was just living a normal life, her world was actually a comic book story and she was just one of the many characters. Now awakened to a new level of self-awareness, she decides not to follow the life that has already been plotted out for her and she breaks out of character to choose her own love and dreams.
In the newly released posters, Kim Hye-yoon and Kim Ro-woon are pictured against fairy tale illustrations, painted in bright colors and featuring overlapping motifs of flowers and books. In the first poster, the two Kims appear to be falling through the clouds in a surreal, dream-like drawing similar to Alice in Wonderland. And, in the second, the two sit together in a forest library amidst a sprinkle of fairy lights.
The teaser starts with a close-up of Kim Hye-yoon who points to her head and says, “I’m telling you, something definitely happened inside here.” We get a sequence of quick shots showing the lead-up to Kim’s new discovery: Kim standing amazed in the middle of a road as other students and cars pass by beside her, Kim sitting in a classroom as she notices new things, and Kim reading a comic book in shock as she shouts, “Me?!” In the next sequence, we see glimpses of the other characters engaged in different activities at school and, in voice-over, Kim Hye-yoon continues that, “Out of all the young people in South Korea, I am probably the only person who experienced something like this.” As she insists that she’s not joking, we see Kim Hye-yoon push a young man up against the wall before cutting away to her facing off against three guys. The scene switches to Kim Hye-yoon looking determined in the hospital and she shouts, “Why? Other than you and me, no one else remembers.” There is an intercut of a woman looking upset and taking a photo with a man dressed as a grim reaper, and before we returns to Kim sitting and reading in a library. The teaser closes with Kim Hye-yoon turning to look behind her where Lee Jae-wook and the other characters are frozen in place, and she says, “My memory is fading away.”
Directing for Extraordinary You is PD Kim Sang-hyub (The King Loves), and writing will be a joint effort by Song Ha-young and In Ji-hye.
MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama Extraordinary You is currently set to premiere next month on October 2, following Rookie Historian Gu Hae-ryung.
