Kim Hye-soo eyes new action-comedy Okay Madam

One of the most badass women in the K-entertainment industry, Signal’s Kim Hye-soo, is considering a role in a new action-comedy film called Okay Madam. Nothing has been decided, but it’s been reported that she has received an offer and is considering the starring role in the upcoming movie as an ordinary ajumma.

The character is someone who lives for her family, working hard to support them by frying twisted donuts all day in her little stall at the local market. But somehow one day, she ends up with an airplane, and the movie is about the comedic hijinks that follow. Although Kim hasn’t officially confirmed, if she does decide to sign on to Okay Madam, it’ll be her second comedy in two years.

Kim Hye-soo’s most recently released film Goodbye Single hit number one at the box office its opening weekend. She played an immature top star who deals with issues of unprepared motherhood, and she was nominated for Best Actress at the Baeksang Awards for her performance. I’m amazed at how chameleon-like she is because that role was a complete 180 from her character in Signal, who was a serious and hardened cop. So I’m curious to see what transformation she’ll make next.

Production for Okay Madam will begin in the latter half of this year. Meanwhile, Kim Hye-soo’s crime-action noir film A Special Lady is set to be released sometime soon.
