Ultimate GHOUL://RE Kagune & Quinque Tier List [2023 Update]

Ultimate GHOUL://RE Kagune & Quinque Tier List [2023 Update]

Updated on December 25, 2025: This tier list will be frequently updated as I continue to explore new weapons and skills in the recent patch. It seems that Kagunes are slightly less powerful compared to Quinques at the moment, especially with Kakujas currently off the table for rework. The CCG has introduced Arata Proto and Joker V2, which are noteworthy. If you’re interested, I’ll also include notes about the new Quinx race as I gather more information.

The choice of the best Kagune and Quinques hinges on whether you’re gearing up for PVP or PVE. My focus here will mainly be on PVP effectiveness, but I’ll highlight any weapons that excel in PVE as well. Don’t worry, the S-Tier options usually cover both aspects. Here’s my GHOUL://RE Kagune and Quinque tier list and guide.

GHOUL://RE Kagune Tier List

I’ve categorized Kagune in GHOUL://RE by separating V1 and V2 versions. Sometimes V2 is better, and other times it isn’t. Additionally, I’ve taken Half Kakuja and Full Kakuja modes into account, as their enhanced capabilities can boost some Kagune rankings. Now, let’s take a closer look at each Kagune and discuss why they earn their spots.

Kakuja: While I have addressed the Half and Full Kakujas in the V2 sections, please note they are currently disabled. The comments here reflect their versions prior to the rework.

S-Tier Kagune

S-Tier Kagune Ranking Explained
Eto V2LegendaryEto V1Legendary • Eto ranks among the top 3 Kagune, possibly the best in-game, thanks to high damage via the Frenzy meter and a powerful Full Kakuja. It also offers versatile Crits. Personally, I find V1 better since V2 is easier to parry. However, V2 dashes are robust and can dominate inexperienced players. High damage, AOE, and range make the Kakuja strong in team battles.
Takizawa V2LegendaryTakizawa V1Legendary • The similarities between Takizawa V1 and V2 place both high on the ranking. With a steep skill ceiling in both 1v1 and team scenarios, succeeding relies on smoothly executing combos. V1 is quick with great mobility, while V2 is slightly slower, yet more versatile in team situations. Its Half Kakuja shines with a strong crit faint, ranged options, and high damage capabilities.
Beaked V2Common • Don’t let the common rarity fool you. The Beaked V2 has a strong 1v1 moveset, showcasing the best M2 variants for extending combos. Its Z+M2 launches into an incredible utility move, proving challenging for opponents to counter. Mastery of this Kagune can make you dominant in PVP.
Nishio V2Common • This Kagune boasts excellent defensive moves, requiring skill and practice to master effectively. Its C move features great hyperarmor to escape combos, followed by X for a swift offensive counter. It strikes a superb balance between offense and defense.

A-Tier Kagune

A-Tier Kagune Ranking Explained
Ken V1Legendary • This underrated choice excels with Dexterity to facilitate 1v1 combos thanks to low range and effective mobility. Combine it with guardbreaks and ragdoll effects from its base moves for a solid PVP experience. Practicing the combos amps its effectiveness.
Yomo V1Legendary • Yomo boasts an impressive moveset that draws from its cloak for enhanced mobility, plus mix-ups from effective dodges and grabs. Its double crit feature encourages creative strategies for 1v1 combat.
Yamori V1Rare • Yamori presents as a high-skill option with formidable potential. Renowned for its hyperarmor moves and uppercut mechanics, mastering its side-stepping combos yields guaranteed crits, making it a niche pick empowering for strong players.
Bin V1Rare • Despite powercreep, Bin stands its ground with balanced Strength and Dexterity, boasting solid combo potential that still packs a punch in matches.
Ken V2Legendary • Ken V2 thrives when used in air combos alongside Dexterity. While base moves may be easy to dodge, the Half Kakuja adds depth with decent counters and mobility, enhancing your PVP strategy.
Tsukiyama V1Common • Tsukiyama shines as a combo specialist boasting excellent guard-break options, but real effectiveness depends on mastery of its combos and positioning against opponents.
Tatara V2Legendary • Highly skill-dependent, Tatara V2 comes to life with effective movestacking using Strength and Dexterity. Its Full Kakuja excels with stunlock capabilities, making it a reliable pick when mastered.

B-Tier Kagune

B-Tier Kagune Ranking Explained
Mayu V1Mythical • While my time with Mayu wasn’t extensive, it proved decent, though not overpowering. Its M2 variants fall short against Beaked V2. I’ll revisit it during the re-release for a possible re-rank.
Yomo V2Legendary • Slightly inferior to V1, Yomo V2 contains range moves that are more easily parried. Its two-part Crit offers a double parry check but lacks significant punch.
Wing V2Common • Like its counterpart, Wing V1, the ranged capabilities here shine through, allowing for effective zoning. Still, recent nerfs have impacted its former prowess.
Noro V2Legendary • Noro V2 brings higher damage compared to its predecessor but suffers from slow combo execution and some annoying endlag, making it less effective against experienced players.
Hinami V1Rare • Hinami stands amid the rares that desperately need a V2 upgrade. While still decent, its ability to zone is great for ganking. It’s best suited for PVE farming.

C-Tier Kagune

C-Tier Kagune Ranking Explained
Beaked V1Common • The V1’s guardbreak Counter is its main carrying feature, but the other moves trail behind, leading players to favor its V2.
Wing V1Common • Although it offers decent zoning, Wing V1 suffers from severe nerfs, impacting its overall viability.
Tatara V1Legendary • While its moves are sluggish, it can be more effective if you master its guard break mechanics. Otherwise, it suffers from long wind-ups without hyperarmor, making V2 a more reliable option.
Noro V1Legendary • Although clunky and slow, Noro V1 features hyperarmor on most of its moves, making it viable in certain scenarios, even if it isn’t my favorite pick.

D-Tier Kagune

Shachi V1Rare • Shachi suffers from slow move start-ups that are easily parried, making it less favorable for competitive play.
Nishio V1Common • Lacking a powerful moveset, Nishio requires V2 for any competitive edge.

GHOUL://RE Quinque Tier List

Ranking Quinques in GHOUL://RE is slightly trickier, given that many are formidable, and Arata is accessible regardless of each Quinque’s strength. It’s essential to note that some rated lower may be better overall than Kagunes in a similar tier. For clarity, I’m avoiding mention of the three base versions, as they primarily offer Crit modifications. Let’s break down each Quinque.

Proto vs Joker: Aratas can reflect distinct styles, with Proto focusing on defense while Joker amplifies DPS. Choose based on your needs—if you tend to take hits, Proto is your pick; if you excel at dodging, choose Joker. The V2 versions pack a serious punch!

S-Tier Quinque

S-Tier Quinque Ranking Explained
Solace V1Mythical • Solace is among the top Quinques, featuring fantastic range and damage. It’s a fun playstyle with challenging moves that keep opponents guessing.
13’s Jason V2Legendary • This version is a significant upgrade from V1, offering enhanced damage and more move variations that truly shine in teamfights.
SSS Owl V2Mythical • With massive damage and AOE capabilities, SSS Owl V2 excels in chaos, making it perfect for teamfights where multiple targets can be hit.
Serrate V2Rare • Serrate requires skillful combos for high damage but rewards players who master its techniques. It’s a worthy choice for those who enjoy complex gameplay.
Yukimura V2Common • This Quinque stands out due to speed, impressive hitboxes, and great guardbreak mechanics. The multi-hit capabilities of X amplify its effectiveness.

A-Tier Quinque

A-Tier Quinque Ranking Explained
Scorpion V2Common • Scorpion V1 pales in comparison to V2, which is excellent for 1v1 PVP once you grasp its moves. The hitboxes are massive, creating opportunities for hit combos.
Nutcracker V2Rare • Once you grasp its combos, Nutcracker V2 offers great potential for offense, leveraging high damage and a solid counter.
AUS V1Legendary • AUS holds versatility, presenting numerous combo opportunities while attracting fleeing enemies. Great damage and guardbreaks push its viability in PVP.
Ginkui V1Mythical • Ginkui does exceptionally well against unaware players. However, it can be countered by those familiar with its moves, making it a situational pick.
13’s Jason V1Legendary • With enormous AOE abilities, 13’s Jason is effective for crowd control while still performing capably in 1v1 encounters.
IXA V1Legendary • IXA, once overpowered, is now well-balanced. It still offers solid combos without being overwhelmingly effective, keeping the gameplay interesting.

B-Tier Quinque

B-Tier Quinque Ranking Explained
SSS Owl V1Mythical • While promising in PVE, SSS Owl V1 falls short in PVP due to the difficulty of landing its attacks. Its Z move remains useful for 1v1s, but elsewhere its utility is limited.
Chi She V1Rare • Chi She offers decent M1 damage, making it suitable for PVE, yet its clumsiness detracts from PVP effectiveness.
Kura V1Mythical • Due to challenging move combos, Kura is generally better suited for PVE but can bring in high damage when played wisely.
Narukami V1Legendary • While not the best in combos, Narukami features decent damage output and versatility, especially through its strong X burst move in ranged mode.
Kuai V1Legendary • Kuai performs decently in PVP but compares poorly to Serrate due to easier parrying. Aggressive play maximizes its damage potential.
Serrate V1Rare • While V2 outdoes it, Serrate V1 remains a satisfactory pick for PVP with valid strategies in place, thanks to manageable skills.
Scorpion V1Common • Scorpion V1 retains decent capabilities, though not as strong as V2. Its knife throw can prove tricky, but the other moves still hold value.

C-Tier Quinque

C-Tier Quinque Ranking Explained
Bokusatsu V1Rare • Bokusatsu V1 struggles with speed and usability, making it more suitable for PVE rather than PVP.
Kajiri V1Common • Kajiri deals decent damage but lacks coherence in its moves, affecting overall performance in PVP encounters. However, it remains engaging for PVE experiences.
Doujima V2Common • Although not optimal for PVP, Doujima V2 excels with impressive M1 damage for PVE boss battles, outperforming its predecessor.

D-Tier Quinque

D-Tier Quinque Ranking Explained
Doujima V1Common • Doujima V1 features solid M1 damage, lending itself to PVE but struggles in PVP due to slow moves.
Demon Yamada V1Rare • Yamada has been overtaken by newer Quinques. With slow wind-ups, its Rending Cleave may require earlier moves to activate, making it hard to land.
