Apple is expected to announce iOS 19 at the WWDC 2025 in June, as is the norm each year. But this year, the buzz surrounding the latest OS is extraordinary since there are reports of a major redesign at the scale we last saw with iOS 7. If you’re curious about what iOS 19 will entail before Apple reveals it at the June 9 keynote, here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming update.
What Is the iOS 19 Release Date?
Apple will unveil iOS 19 at WWDC 2025 on June 9, 2025, following its annual pattern. iOS 19 developer beta is expected to be released right after the announcement on June 9, with a public beta likely in July. The first stable version of iOS 19 is expected to roll out alongside the iPhone 17 series in September 2025.
iOS 19 Leaks & Rumored Features
These are the rumors churning around in the rumor mills for iOS 19. Since the official release is a few months away and Apple doesn’t announce features beforehand, these are rumors and iOS 19 leaks gathered from reputable sources. Still, take everything you read with a grain of salt instead of something written in stone.
1. A visionOS-inspired Redesign
One of the biggest reports for iOS 19 involves a major UI and UX overhaul, which will take inspiration from visionOS. The redesign will reportedly go beyond a fresh coat of paint, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The company is planning to tweak the look as well as the user experience. If it’s true, this will change how users interact with Apple’s devices.
This redesign will reportedly include floating windows and glass-like aesthetics across apps. It will also span across iPadOS 19 and macOS 16, bringing consistency across Apple’s devices. Adopting the design principles the company introduced with visionOS, the redesign will include transparent menus, rounded icons, and new buttons. Apple’s recent app, Apple Invites, features transparent elements, which also gives more weight to these iOS 19 design rumors about the new direction the company is heading into.

As we have earlier reported, a new leak from Front Page Tech shows the extent of some of iOS 19’s new design. According to the video, the app icons are more between a square and a circle instead of a full circle. But Prosser suggests that the icons could still become completely round by the time iOS 19 is previewed in June. Some controls in the Control Center have also experienced a similar rounding treatment.

Reportedly, Apple is also introducing a pill-shaped tab bar to the bottom of apps. The Tab Bar will include a Tab View icon and a search bar. Tapping on the Tab View icon will expand the tab bar to show different tabs from an app. The Tab Bar won’t just come to Apple apps. Third-party app developers might also be able to add it to their apps.

There will also be other minor changes. Expect elongated toggles in the Settings app or a shimmer effect for lock screen controls in iOS 19.
Note that while some reports have been likening the redesign to the dramatic shift seen with iOS 7, others suggest the changes may be more iterative, bringing a fresh aesthetic rather than a complete overhaul. But even if reports about the scale of the redesign differ, everyone seems to be in agreement that a redesign is happening.
2. Redesigned Camera and Messages app
Reports suggest that iOS 19 will also bring a redesign for the Camera app. As Moyens I/O previously reported, Jon Prosser shared the new design for the Camera app on his YouTube channel. The new design will feature only two tabs at the bottom: Photo and Video. The rest of the associated options will appear when you tap on either of the two.

For instance, tapping the ‘Photo’ tab may show options like Depth, Spatial, Pano, Style, Aspect, Exposure, and Timer, while the ‘Video’ tab may house the options for Depth, Spatial, Slow-Mo, Time-Lapse, Action, and Exposure.
The menus themselves will be transparent to align with the proposed visionOS-like redesign across apps in iOS 19.
Along with the Camera app, Jon Prosser has also hinted at seeing the redesign in the Messages app, which featured rounded, transparent buttons for back navigation and FaceTime at the top and a rounded keyboard at the bottom. The Messages app might also have a persistent search bar at the bottom.

After these iOS 19 leaks, Gurman posted that the leaks seem to be based on “very old builds or vague descriptions, missing key features.” But in the new video Prosser shared, he’s called out Gurman. Prosser also says that they’ve now seen the latest builds, and their report reflects that.
3. Personalized Siri
Personalized Siri, which was initially slated to arrive with other AI features in iOS 18, could potentially arrive with iOS 19. Apple announced the delay last month in what has become Apple’s biggest crisis in decades. What’s even more embarrassing is the fact that Apple hasn’t given a concrete timeline for the delay.
Apple’s AI Crisis: Is Apple Turning Into All Words and No Show Company?
So, while we’re hopeful to see Personalized Siri by iOS 19.4 next year, it still might not happen. If you’re not in the loop, Apple had planned the following Siri upgrades as part of the Apple Intelligence push:
- Personal Context: Siri will be able to keep track of your information across emails, messages, files, etc., to help you in a more personalized manner. For instance, if you say, “What’s my Driver’s License number?” and you have the information stored somewhere like Photos, Siri will be able to find and retrieve it for you.
- Onscreen Awareness: Siri will be able to see the information on your screen and complete actions accordingly. For example, if you’re texting with someone and receive a link in the text, you can simply ask Siri to add it to your bookmarks, and Siri will know what you mean.
- Take actions across apps: Siri will also be able to take multiple actions across apps at a level previously impossible. For example, it will be able to edit your photos and send them to someone, retrieve information from a document and email it to someone on your behalf, and more.
Note
Apple is also working on an even greater overhaul for Siri, which will bring its capabilities at par with other LLM chatbots like ChatGPT. However, given the delays in Personalized Siri, it’s unlikely that this smarter version, codenamed LLM Siri, will arrive in iOS 19.
4. Revamped Health App with an AI Doctor
While Apple is struggling to ship AI features previously announced, reports of new AI features have already started to make the rounds. With iOS 19.4, the tech giant plans to bring an AI Doctor to the Health app, which will also see an overhaul otherwise. The AI Doctor/ Coach service will reportedly give users personalized recommendations for their health after analyzing the data captured by the Health app.
There will also be other health-related features in iOS 19, as per Gurman. For instance, the AI agent will be able to analyze users’ workouts as the Health app will gain camera access. While I’m cautious about the feature, I must say it will be a great move in making AI-assisted healthcare more accessible to everyone.
5. Live Translation for AirPods
Apple is also working on a Live translation feature for AirPods, and the update will be tied to iOS 19. The feature, which will use Apple’s Translate app, will simplify the translation process for the wearer. If the person wearing the AirPods is an English speaker but is talking to someone speaking French, for example, AirPods will automatically detect and translate French to English. While the Translate app already has these capabilities, bringing them to AirPods with iOS 19 will make it even more seamless.
These are all the speculated features known to be coming to iOS 19. While there will undoubtedly be more features in the update, reports also suggest that Apple could cool down with its annual approach of shipping features. Instead, it will bring them when they are ready. Perhaps it will be a good thing, given the company’s recent struggle to ship all the features it announced at WWDC 2024.
Which iPhones Will Get iOS 19?

According to a recent leak, Apple is reportedly dropping iPhones XR, XS, and XS Max from the list of iOS 19 supported devices. If the rumor turns out to be true, which it might (since it’s shared by an anonymous and private account on X with a history of dropping correct information), the list of iOS 19 compatible devices would include:
- iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2nd gen)
- iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (3rd gen)
- iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, 16e
Of course, then there’s the iPhone 17 lineup – iPhone 17, 17 Plus, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the rumored iPhone 17 Air – that will ship with the iOS 19 update.
That’s all the information currently out in the ether about iOS 19. It’s surely going to be an important one. What are your thoughts on the iOS 19 leaks and the rumored redesign? Do you think it will be a good idea, or is it only to distract users from the failure of Apple Intelligence?
