MCU Spider-Man & Deadpool News: More Crossovers?

The studio executive leaned back, a smirk playing on his lips. “Spider-Man,” he drawled, “is worth more to us than your entire cinematic universe.” But what if that calculus were changing, as a door creaks open after a decade of Marvel Studios wanting more Spidey characters?

Saw 12

The aroma of sawdust and stale blood fills the air every time a new Saw film surfaces. In a recent interview with Letterboxd, James Wan revealed that Saw 12 will interrogate Jigsaw’s philosophy of ignoring “scumbags” who still “appreciate life.”

Leigh and I both want to recapture the spirit of that first film and revisit Jigsaw’s philosophy, which is that he goes after people who don’t appreciate their lives. If you’re a scumbag, but you appreciate your life, he doesn’t see you as someone who’s wasting your life, so I want to go back to what we touched on in the first movie with regard to that.

At the same time, I want to honor what people have come to love about the franchise, whilst trying to do something fresh and new that we haven’t seen before.

Later in the interview, Wan erroneously calls the film “the eleventh installment” of the franchise, possibly casting Spiral: From the Book of Saw into the realm of franchise apocrypha.

This next movie would be the eleventh installment, and there’ve been lots of films in this world. We need to do something different in order to reach out to a new generation that didn’t grow up with it.

Untitled 70’s Horror Reboot

Some ideas are so potent they refuse to stay buried. In another recent interview with MovieWeb, Madelaine Petsch revealed she’s attached to a remake of a “deep cut” 70’s horror film still trying to acquire funding.

There’s one film from the ’70s that I really want to remake, but I’m in the process of figuring that out so I don’t want to say it yet. But I’m really excited about it if it happens. It’s so cool. I don’t know how no one’s remade it yet. t’s kind of like a deep cut though. I hadn’t heard about it until very recently, and then I watched it and I was like, ‘This is crazy! I have to remake this.’
