How to Find Ohtani Region Treasure Hunt Chest in Forza Horizon 6

Forza Horizon 6: Top 10 Most Expensive Cars & Where to Get Them

I rolled up to the festival grounds with the week timer breathing down my neck. The Festival Playlist handed me a single grainy photo and a trace: Kinkaku-Ji. You can feel the small, sudden panic when a time-limited chest hides behind a temple.

I’ll show you the exact route and quick tricks I use on Xbox Series X|S and PC (Microsoft Store/Steam) so you don’t waste time guessing. Read the steps, follow the photos, and get to that chest before the Summer week ends.

The Kinkaku-Ji temple sits southwest of the Horizon Festival Site, a gold leaf on the map.

When you accept the Treasure Hunt from the Festival Playlist, the only hint is that photo. That’s intentional—Playground Games wants you to search. The chest is inside the Kinkaku-Ji Temple. If you’ve already run the nearby race event, fast travel to that race marker and save yourself a chunk of time.

Where is the Ohtani Region Treasure Hunt chest located?

Open Festival Playlist, accept the Ohtani Treasure Hunt, and study the photo. The chest lives inside Kinkaku-Ji Temple, southwest of the Horizon Festival Site. If you can drop a marker with the Treasure Map DLC, do it—but the photo alone is enough.

Quick approach and exact route

The temple entrance faces a small pond and a curved path that players often pass without noticing, like a thread through a kimono.

Fast travel to the race near the temple if you have it. From the temple’s main entrance, go left and follow the path shown in the screenshots. The path bends right past the pond; keep that track and the chest is sitting just ahead. Drive straight through it—collision triggers the reward and clears the objective.

How do I reach Kinkaku-Ji Temple quickly?

If you’ve completed the nearby race event, fast travel to it from the map. Otherwise, use a high-handling car to cut through the approach roads—Forza physics favors nimble handling inside tight temple grounds. If you own the Treasure Map DLC (available via Microsoft Store/Steam), drop a waypoint from the Festival Playlist photo and follow it straight to the entrance.

What rewards does the Ohtani Treasure Hunt give?

Drive through the chest to receive 100,000 credits and 5 Festival event points. Credits are the in-game currency for cars and upgrades—this haul speeds up any garage goals. Remember: this chest is part of the Summer week, and you have until May 28 to claim it.

If you want to work faster, use the game’s photo-marker (Treasure Map DLC), fast travel, and a handling-focused vehicle. I use a tuned car on Xbox Series X|S, but the method works exactly the same on PC via Microsoft Store or Steam. Playground Games planned the chest to reward players who act quickly and read the map.

So: will you race the clock and snag the 100,000 credits and festival points, or let someone else take the chest first?
