I froze when the corridor went quiet and a single paper curtain shivered. You know the moment—you have three foxes and the castle starts to change. I wanted all five, so I kept moving through hidden doors until the map felt like a riddle I could outsmart.
I’ve done the legwork so you won’t wander in circles. Follow my steps and you’ll spot the tricks Toby Fox hid inside the Flower Castle; I’ll point the exact spots, what to push, and how the game counts each fox.
Observation: The five foxes sit inside the same paper-walled wing of Flower Castle, not spread across the whole map.
Get to the Second Diner inside Flower Castle. From there, take the left door into the gallery with two fox statues guarding a paper-walled room. That single cluster is where you’ll pick up all five. You only need three for the main story, but if you want the secret boss, you must collect every one.
How many foxes are in Deltarune Chapter 5?
There are five foxes total. The game registers a fox when you trigger it into the doorway or otherwise reveal it in front of the room’s threshold. Three unlocked scenes, five required for the hidden boss—keep that count in your head like a checklist.
Where are the foxes located inside that room?
Fox 1 — the paw that isn’t a paw

Don’t walk straight into the statue room. Move behind the paper panels to the far right, open the Treasure Chest area, then slowly walk left. One of the statue paws is actually a fox hiding in plain sight—grab it and carry it to the room’s front to register Fox 1. It sits like a neon breadcrumb leading you back to the doorway.
Fox 2 — the roaming model

Enter the terracotta room: a fox patrols the center. Nudge it toward the exit; when it moves through the door it counts. That motion trigger is the whole point—make it walk the line and you’ll bank Fox 2.
Fox 3 — the tipping model

Head to the room’s bottom-right. Push the second-to-last terracotta model on the bottom row. As it tilts, the clay falls away and reveals Fox 3. The reveal is instant—watch the stack and time the shove.
Observation: A curtain and a blue switch hold the final two foxes; the room behaves like a small logic puzzle.
The northeast corner of the terracotta room hides a doorway behind a paper curtain. Two separate curtain puzzles are how the game forces you to interact with the space rather than brute-force it.
Do I need all five foxes to reach the secret boss?
Yes. Three gets you through the main story beats, but the left doorway past the terracotta room stays locked until the game sees five foxes counted. Only after you find all five will the next chamber open and present the chest that gives a Pink Coin used to gain the secret-boss key.
Fox 4 — the silhouette gamble

Open the northeast curtain room. You’ll see several fox silhouettes behind paper—pick one without seeing it and place it on the blue floor switch. That action lifts the curtain and reveals which silhouette was actually a fox. If you guessed wrong, keep trying until the right one is chosen. That registers Fox 4.
Fox 5 — Yellow is wearing a mask

Return to the terracotta room and go northwest. A curtain hides a Yellow figure—interact and Yellow peels away to reveal Fox 5 in a final disguised reveal. When Yellow unmasks, the game registers the fifth fox.

After the fifth fox registers, the left doorway unlocks. Inside that room a fox vanishes and leaves a Treasure Chest with a Pink Coin—the coin is needed later to get the key for the secret boss fight. If you’re sharing clips, Discord and YouTube creators are already tagging Toby Fox and posting routes on Steam guides and Twitter/X, so you can cross-check if you want alternative timings.
You can follow this route, chase every silhouette, and force the chest to appear—but will you risk replaying the chapter to test an alternate order and see if the secret boss reacts differently?
