How to Get Fort Logbooks in The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu — Unlock Map

The jungle went quiet the moment I stepped through the ferns. A cluster of canvas tents sat half-buried in shadow, like a secret someone forgot to keep. I learned fast: that little logbook would change the way the whole map reads.

I’ve run this island alone and with groups on Steam and checked threads on Reddit and the official Discord; the pattern is the same. You don’t need exotic gear—just patience, a medallion if you find it, and a plan for that locked door. Read on and I’ll walk you through the exact route I took, the traps to avoid, and what the map shows once you grab the Fort Logbook.

I found the tent under a sagging vine. How to find a Fort Logbook in The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu

The Fort Logbook only appears in jungle tiles that host a Fort—small canvas setups, not grand outposts. On your second expedition (the first teaches basics), that logbook is often tucked deep inside the Fort area. Think of the map as a jigsaw missing a corner; the logbook snaps that piece into place.

Start at the shore. Explore right first to gather valuables—tools and loot that make the rest cleaner. Return to spawn and head left; the path that hugs the coastline leads to a tiny shack with a medallion. The medallion makes the island’s treasure glow on your HUD, but you can clear the mission without it if you prefer to find things the old-fashioned way.

The left path always gives you more breathing room. Getting to the Fort without a chaotic fight

On multiple runs the left route offered fewer ambushes and clearer lines of sight. Follow the coast until a small shack appears; that’s where the medallion can be found. Even if you miss it, the Fort still exists further inland.

From the shack, continue along the left-hand track until the ground rises. When you hit the slope, turn right and clear the group of enemies and undead that guard the approach. Push straight ahead and you’ll reach a locked door that only opens from one side—your Fort sits past that threshold, and the logbook is inside.

How do I find the Fort Logbook in The Mound?

Head left from spawn, check the small shack for a medallion, clear the slope-right chokepoint, and look for the one-way locked door. Take the stairs just left of that door, push upward until the path drops you into the Fort, and wait for the short past-present flash—then grab the book.

The stairs always hide one enemy. Simple combat and drop tips to keep your run clean

On my runs a single undead often blocks the second staircase—deal with it first. Climb the stairs, clear any blocking enemy, then drop on the left side; you might take a touch of fall damage, but it’s rarely dangerous if you’re conservative with health items.

After a brief cinematic bridge between past and present, the logbook will be pickable on the Fort floor. Grab it, open the internal door from inside to reach your oxcart, and head back to the ship if you’ve gathered enough valuables to meet the contract.

Where are Forts located in The Mound?

Forts appear only on jungle tiles with inner clearings. They are typically tucked away from the beach, deeper along branching paths that require clearing intermediate enemies. On the ship-screen map you’ll later see white dots marking locations where logbooks can spawn—those dots are your map’s breadcrumb trail.

When I returned to the ship the map had new white dots. What the Logbook actually does and why it matters

Picking up a Fort Logbook reveals surrounding areas on your expedition map, which then show white dots where logbooks can be found on future runs—those dots help you prioritize routes. The map changes are immediate after you board the ship and open the map interface.

You don’t need to buy tools beyond the base game on Steam (many players picked it up for $19.99 (€18) recently), but checking community resources—Moyens I/O guides, Steam discussions, and the official Discord—helps you spot spawn patterns and medallion locations faster.

What happens after I pick up a Fort Logbook?

The map reveals the Fort area and nearby points of interest; future maps will mark potential logbook locations with white dots. That small change turns exploration from guessing into planning. Treat the logbook like a compass—the Fort is the needle in a haystack that suddenly starts pointing to something real.

Want a clean run without frantic backtracking? Take the left coast, grab the medallion if you see the shack, clear the slope-right enemies, take the stairs left of the locked door and drop into the Fort—then collect the logbook and use the newly revealed map dots to hunt the rest. What’s the boldest move you’ll try next on the island?
