I tried to start a match and the queue died mid-load. You stare at the countdown and feel the game stop breathing. I’ll walk you through the times, the limits, and what to do while servers are offline.
Matchmaking queues collapse in the early hours — FC 26 server maintenance details (Aug. 19)
EA SPORTS reported planned maintenance for today. The headline: matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before the window, and you may be disconnected during the work.
When it starts: maintenance begins at 1am PDT / 3am CDT / 4am EDT / 8am UTC / 9am BST. Match creation is switched off 30 minutes before those times, so don’t wait until the last minute.
Expected finish: the window is scheduled to close at 4am PDT / 6am CDT / 7am EDT / 11am UTC / 12pm BST. That gives about three hours of work, though delays are possible—servers can be a sleeping giant that wakes unpredictably.
When will FC 26 servers come back online?
EA’s posted end time is 11:00 UTC (12:00 BST). If the team finishes on schedule you should see online modes return shortly after that timestamp. I recommend waiting a few minutes before queuing—services often take a short grace period to stabilise.
Will Ultimate Team be available during the maintenance?
No. Anything that requires online matchmaking or live connectivity—Ultimate Team, online friendlies and similar modes—will be unavailable once matchmaking is disabled. You may be able to open the client, but creating or joining matches will fail until the window closes.
How long will the maintenance last?
The published window runs roughly three hours. If there’s any extra work, EA can extend it. Plan for at least the advertised period and expect brief rollout lag after the end time.
Players refreshing feeds in the morning — What you can do while servers are down
Offline modes still work. You can run the Manager Career mode and push your club forward without network access.
Want to keep FUT moving? The Web App and Companion App remain options for managing SBCs and the current FUTTIES grind, but be careful of soft bans if you use third-party tools. The Companion App is handy on phone or tablet if you prefer to avoid the full client.
Stuck on console? Use the downtime for set-piece practice, squad planning, or reviewing tactics in custom tactics and training drills. Treat the blackout as backstage blackout time: it’s a forced pause that can improve match-day performance.
Platforms affected include PlayStation, Xbox and PC (Origin/EA App/Steam) and the maintenance was announced by EA SPORTS FC Direct on X/Twitter. If you play across platforms, remember cross-play matchmaking depends on the online layer that’s being serviced.
Will you use the downtime to grind offline objectives, chase FUTTIES, or argue about EA’s timing on social feeds?
