Poppy Playtime Chapter 5: All Tape Locations Guide

Poppy Playtime Chapter 5: All Tape Locations Guide

The TV sputters to life and a child’s song stutters through the vents. I crouch, thumb hovering over the interact key, while you scan every shadow for a colored cassette. One wrong step and the room saves you out—no second chances.

I’ve chased these tapes since Chapter 1, and I’ll walk you through the three that matter here so you don’t miss the small threads of Playtime Co.’s story. Watch the televisions—those little screens are where the game whispers its best secrets. Treat each color like a single breadcrumb; miss it and the trail goes cold.

A blue CRT hums in the ruined corridor. Poppy Playtime Chapter 5: VHS tape locations

If you want the lore, you have to read the room. Tapes always spawn within arm’s reach of a color-matched block television; find one and you’re in the right neighborhood. I’ll tell you when to grab them, where they hide, and the exact codes you need so you won’t be staring at a locked cabinet after the autosave slams the door.

Where are the VHS tapes in Poppy Playtime Chapter 5?

There are three tapes, and they appear mostly in the latter half of Broken Things. You’ll find them tied to main objectives: one during Huggy’s conditioning sequence, one on the ice-cream truck playground, and one inside the surgical suite. Grab them before you complete the surrounding objective—if you clear a room the game will often seal it behind you.

  • Objective: Find a Way Into Reanimation (complete ‘Collect 3 Memories’)
  • Color: Blue

The blue cassette sits in the locked hallway lined with eight conditioning rooms — the same stretch where you run the projector sequence to collect a memory. Watch for the cartoon-emotion keypad; you don’t get the code until the final memory, which ends with Huggy Wuggy ripping free. I tested this repeatedly on PC via Steam and the sequence is consistent.

Enter the code in this order: Happy Happy Disgust Sad Fear Happy. The blue tape will be on the floor in front of the opened door; the matching TV is at the far end of the wrecked corridor. The hunt here feels like finding a match in a blackout — small, precise, and suddenly everything is visible.

How many tapes are in Chapter 5?

Three. I’ll break them down so you don’t waste time replaying sections. Two appear during segments where you’re effectively solo again (platforming and stealth), and one is tied to the surgical area—grab it before you finish Grand Stitchery or you risk losing access.

  • Objective: Find a Way Into Reanimation (Complete ‘Use the Projectors to Distract Huggy’)
  • Color: Yellow

The yellow tape sits in the playground section aboard the ice-cream truck ride — the very first stop after you slip past Huggy. I recommend taking the ramp up the climbing frame (the ramp opposite the yellow slide) and grabbing the cassette before you hop onto the wooden platform in the tall tree where the yellow TV waits.

How do I get the red tape in Surgery Room 2?

The red tape is surgical; you reach it by going down into the operating suites. Smash the two cracked windows around Surgery 2 with the Pressure Hand, then switch to the Conductive Hand to pull power from the source and feed it into the conductor inside Surgery 2. That opens the cabinet you need.

  • Objective: Find the Backup (Find a way down to the Surgical Rooms)
  • Color: Red

Use Glowby’s UV to read the code. Enter 7 2 8 to open the cabinet that holds the red tape. Once you grab it, head to Surgery Suite 1 (just outside and to the right of Surgery 2) to watch the footage. Important: pick this up before you finish Grand Stitchery; the door will seal and you’ll be forced to reload.

I pulled these steps from hands-on runs on PC (Steam) and cross-checked clips on YouTube; the locations and codes are stable across platforms. The TV sets form a breadcrumb trail of static you can follow if you keep your eyes on color and timing. Which tape surprised you most, and what theory about Playtime Co. should we argue over first?
