I remember the moment I first saw an X-Rex tear through a metal gate and my partner sprint for the raft — everything changed in a heartbeat. You learn fast: these variants hit harder, drop more XP, and refuse to behave like their tame cousins. I kept a screenshot, mapped the hotspots, and now I’ll save you the guesswork.
Quick note: X-Creatures spawn in hotspots, not fixed points. I’ve pinned the best coordinates below and left the original screenshots so you can match terrain at a glance. The map is a minefield of rare spawns. Each hotspot is a glowing pin on a treasure map.
Where do X-Creatures spawn on the Genesis 1 map?
Short answer: in biome-specific hotspots across Genesis 1. I include preferred coordinates for each creature; spawns wander, so use those numbers as a search anchor and scan the surrounding area.
How do you tame X-Creatures in ARK Survival Ascended?
Taming methods follow the species’ normal rules: passive taming for herd types, knockout or tranquil methods for predators, and feeding the species’ favorite food. Also expect higher damage and aggression — bring armor, a tame with crowd-control abilities, and a medic kit if you’re solo.
Are X-Creatures worth taming?
Yes, if you want power and bonus XP. They hit harder in combat and are excellent for raid defense or XP farming, but they draw attention. If you treat them like a tool, not a toy, they repay the effort.
Observation: The Volcano smells of sulfur and scorched stone.

X-Ankylosaurus
The Ankylosaurus favors rocky slopes and mineral veins; you’ll see them wandering the Volcano perimeter. Preferred coordinates: Lat. 41–45, Long. 73–78. They’re excellent mobile metal harvesters and tougher than the regular variant — bring a yak or quetz to carry flak armor and preserve your tame’s stamina.
Observation: Snow glints like a blade at dawn.

X-Argentavis
Find the X-Argentavis in the Snow biome, often circling ridgelines. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 80–82, Long. 8–9. Use bolo or bolas to ground one for taming, or bait it into a trap pen with meat. On servers where Steam mods and Discord tribe channels trade tips, survivalists often recommend a tranq rifle + platform trap.
Observation: Near the Volcano, predator tracks crisscross the ash.

X-Allosaurus
These predators patrol volcanic slopes and cliffs. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 31, Long. 88–91. They are aggressive and hit harder than normal Allos — bring a pack or a strong mount, use tranqs or trap corridors, and consider a taming pen if you’re on PvP servers where Studio Wildcard events push spawn rates.
Observation: Water surfaces ripple under a pale sun in the Snow biome.

X-Otter
Otters hug the shoreline; on Genesis 1 you’ll find X-Otters in snowy waters. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 72–74, Long. 13–15. If none are present, kill nearby salmon to trigger spawns. They’re passive tameables — feed them fish or prime meat. Reddit threads often share spawn windows and server-hour nuances for otter runs.
Observation: The Bog is a slow, sticky place where giants graze.

X-Paraceratherium
Large herbivores patrol the Bog flats. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 55, Long. 59–60. These are excellent pack animals; tame them passively with berries or vegetables and use platform saddles for mobile base work.
Observation: Small alarms go off when the Parasaur hears movement.

X-Parasaur
Parasaur spawns cluster in southern Bog lowlands. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 93, Long. 74. Passive taming with berries is safe and fast; their higher damage makes them useful early-warning mounts for base perimeters.
Observation: Raptors leave feathered trails through the scrub.

X-Raptor
Raptors appear in the central Bog area and near water lines; they’re agile and dangerous. I didn’t lock a single fixed coordinate — scan the marked area in the image and use bolas to give yourself an opening. Bring a pack of dinos if you plan to hunt them for taming.
Observation: The northern Volcano throws up heat and hard shadows.

X-Rex
X-Rexes patrol the northern Volcano edge. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 5, Long. 79. They’re the headline threat here — bring heavy armor, kiting mounts, and plenty of tranqs if you want to tame one. Steam Workshop forums and Wildcard patch notes sometimes shift spawn behavior; check them before a planned run.
Observation: Caves glitter with faint purple light near fissures.

X-Rock Elemental
Look in Volcano caves with purple crystals. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 20–21, Long. 91. These elementals can be tanky; use crowd-control and traps to isolate one. Community modders on Nexus and Steam sometimes share spawn maps that make cave runs faster.
Observation: Elevated mesas host gliders that sweep the air.

X-Tapejara
I found X-Tapejara near the Paraceratherium cluster. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 55, Long. 59–60. Tapejaras are valuable for aerial building runs; bolas and tranq darts work well if you can ground one long enough to tame.
Observation: Snow tracks and low boulders mark the Sabretooth’s hunting grounds.

X-Sabretooth
Sabretooths favor snowy lower slopes. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 80, Long. 17. They’re ambush predators; bait them into a fenced pen or use a fast mount to kite while your tranqs land.
Observation: Horned silhouettes graze in the Volcano’s ash fields.

X-Triceratops
Trikes sit mid-Volcano where vegetation clings to ash. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 32, Long. 80. Passive taming works; they’re excellent crowd-control mounts for base defense and can hold aggro against multiple attackers.
Observation: Spinos carve rivulets through the Bog like living bulldozers.

X-Spinosaurus
Spinos roam the Bog and river mouths. Preferred Coordinates: Lat. 59, Long. 70. They’re powerful in water and on land — use heavy tranqs or trap them near shallow pools and finish passive taming with fish or meat.
I’ll be adding ocean X-Creatures and any spawn shifts reported after Studio Wildcard patches. Join ARK communities on Reddit and the official Discord to catch live spawn changes and player-tested strategies — sometimes a single patch flips preferred coordinates overnight. Will you risk the Volcano for an X-Rex or play safe and herd an X-Paraceratherium first?
