I lost a weekend of progress because I poured upgrade mats into the wrong unit. You can feel that sinking realization — the one that makes you question every reroll and summon. I wrote this so you won’t repeat that mistake: clear calls on who to rush, who to bench, and why.
Anime Squadron Unit Tier List
On my last raid night I watched a Gometa carry a three-man squad through Act 4 while everyone else was still farming shards. Below I rank every unit by role — DPS, Support, Tank and Farm — and I explain the strategy behind those ranks so you can spend your time and resources with confidence.

Here’s the short version of the tiers so you don’t waste time scrolling for basics:
- S-Tier DPS: The Meta units that carry content and scale extremely well.
- A-Tier DPS: Strong performers that scale; some are needed for EVO chains.
- B-Tier DPS: Mid-game reliable damage dealers; useful fillers.
- C-Tier DPS: Beginner-friendly units that get you through early content.
- Support: Best buffers and debuffers for raid and squad synergy.
- Tank: Units that soak damage and control fights.
- Farm: Units and traits that speed up resource grinding.
Best Gear: Omega Gear Set > Mythic Pieces
Best Traits:
- DPS/Support (Cloner/Superior)
- Farm (Entrepreneur/Wealthy)
- Tank (Rebirth)
Best Teams:
- Farming Madora (NVSA4): 2DPS + Shinks + Fastwagon (or Vegata with Cloner)
- Farming Shanron (GTCRA4): Vegata (Cloner T) solos or use Madara method
- Mid-to-Late All Game Modes: Gometa (Superior T), Karashi (Rebirth T), Vegata (Cloner T) and Fastwagon (Any Farm Trait) – Try to max out Fastwagon first
S-Tier DPS
| Unit | Ranking Reason |
|---|---|
Gometa (SSJ4)EVO Goki to Full PowerThen complete questlineFor Primal Core materials for Gogeta EVO |
• The strongest DPS unit in the game due to massive self-stacking buffs• Gometa can also tank really well in the end game with his massive defense, HP regen and dodge• Definitely worth rushing ASAP |
Woo (Shadow)Banner Secret20k Summons Pity |
• Top 2 Meta DPS |
Madora (Gunbai)Ninja Village Squadron Act 4 |
• Top 3 Meta DPS |
Shanron (Omega)GT City Raid Act 4 |
• One of the most versatile units in the game• Shenron is a great end-game DPS, tank and also support• That said, he’s incredibly expensive to grind and EVO• Don’t rush him over the above three units and save him for later |
Gometa’s self-buffs gather like a snowball down a steep run — small at first, then impossible to stop. If you can complete his EVO chain quickly, he changes how you clear late-game content.
A-Tier DPS
| Unit | Ranking Reason |
|---|---|
Goki (SSJ4 Full Power) |
• Goki is a good sub-Meta DPS but you want him either way for Gogeta |
Vegata (SSJ4 Full Power) |
• Vegata’s Full Power EVO is quite a decent DPS unit• That said you mainly want his EVO since its required for the Gogeta quest |
Karashi (Sharingan) |
• Karashi has lower DPS than the units above but is incredibly good for farming resources on various modes (see farming guide below)• Plus he’s a really good filler unit for end-game teams |
B-Tier DPS
| Unit | Ranking Reason |
|---|---|
Rizzuto (Sage) |
• Rizzuto is an okay sub-meta DPS that’s good to have in the mid-game• That said I would invest in Goki and Vegata since they both scale well in the late-game due to strong EVOs |
Big Beard |
• Much weaker than Naruto DPS-wise but better damage than the C-Tier• On the other hand, he’s a really great tank to have in any stage besides end-game• Shield Hero tanks better but Big Beard has higher DPS |
C-Tier DPS
This tier is where you place early-game carries and fillers. Choi and Tranks give surprisingly good early DPS and are perfectly fine while you build your EVO cores. Treat these as short-term investments, not permanents.
Best Support/Tank Units
During a weekend of guild runs I noticed every team with Shinks and Shield Hero survived situations others didn’t. Here’s who you should lean on when you need sustain, crowd control or reliable buffers.
| Unit | Ranking Reason |
|---|---|
Shield HeroBattlePass |
• The best tank in the game at all stages except end-game where you want to replace him with Gogeta |
Shinks |
• One of the best Supports in the game |
Big Beard |
• Much weaker than Naruto DPS-wise but better damage than the C-Tier• On the other hand, he’s a really great tank to have in any stage besides end-game• Shield Hero tanks better but Big Beard has higher DPS |
Shanron (Omega)GT City Raid Act 4 |
• One of the most versatile units in the game• Shenron is a great end-game DPS, tank and also support• That said, he’s incredibly expensive to grind and EVO• Don’t rush him over the above three units and save him for later |
Rudaus |
• Excellent early game support |
Mamosa |
• Excellent early game support |
Shanron is a Swiss army knife of roles — if you can afford the grind, he covers multiple gaps in a roster. Until then, focus on Shield Hero for tanking and Shinks for support; those two appear in nearly every successful raid comp on Reddit and Discord.
Which Anime Squadron units are best for DPS?
Short answer: Gometa, Woo, Madara and Shanron. Gometa is the clear end-game carry because of self-stacking damage and survivability. If you’re aiming for raid leaderboards or clearing Act 4 regularly, prioritize Gometa’s EVO materials and traits that boost sustained damage (Superior/Cloner).
How do I farm gems and trait rerolls in Anime Squadron?
Use the Raid Shop aggressively, run Story 1-1 on Hard for steady gem returns, and clear the 30-minute Kakashi challenges for high-value drops. Idle in the AFK chamber when you have limited play time — it’s slower per hour but compounding returns matter. Check Moyens I/O guides and the official Discord for rotating Raid Shop offers to maximize efficiency.
Which units should I EVO first?
Prioritize EVO chains that open a new role or unlock a meta unit: Goki→Gometa chain, Vegata for Gogeta requirements, then Madara if you need a reliable farmer. If you’re free-to-play, stagger EVOs: finish one meta DPS, then secure a Shield Hero or Shinks for stability.
How to Farm Trait Rerolls, Gems & More in Anime Squadron
At peak hours the Raid Shop cycles rare rerolls and gear that vanish within a day. Below I list reliable sources and where to spend time versus currency.
- Trait Rerolls: Raid Shop rotations, clearing 30-minute Kakashi challenges, or idling in the AFK chamber.
- Gems: Raid Shop offers, Story 1-1 Hard runs, Kakashi 30-minute clears, and AFK chamber for steady gains.
- Gold: Raid Shop, clearing Squadron stages on 20/40 depending on difficulty, selling excess banner summons, and AFK chamber runs.
- EXP: Raids, Squadron clears and Story 1-1 provide the fastest experience spikes.
Battle Pass value is often measured in clear time saved; if you purchase boosts with USD, factor in regional offers — a $4.99 tier is roughly €5, and higher packs scale accordingly. For most players, selective purchases during seasonal bundles provide the best time-to-value.
Between Moyens I/O threads, Reddit spreadsheets, and the official Discord bots that track pity counters, you can plan summons smarter and avoid sunk-cost mistakes. Use community tools to track banner pity and EVO material timers so you don’t waste summons on the wrong banner.
That’s the roadmap: rush Gometa if you can, hold Shanron until you’ve got the mats, and treat Shield Hero + Shinks as the backbone while you farm EVOs. Which unit are you committing your next batch of mats to?
