How to Hack Flight Control Transponder in Marathon (Truth/Lies 1)

How to Deliver Unstable Gunmetal to DCON in Perimeter (Marathon)

I slipped through Flight Control with my pulse tuned to the objective marker. The second floor smelled of ozone and old radio chatter; someone had already beaten me to half the route. By the time I found the Transponder, the run felt inevitable.

I’ve run Truth/Lies 1 enough times to stop guessing and start doing. You’ll get this in one clean circuit if you follow the path I use: quick, quiet, and leaving no loose ends. I’ll point out where other players trip up and how to move faster without drawing fire.

You can see the Flight Control POI on the map and the objective marker will blink until you act — a small, stubborn beacon that won’t leave you alone.
Marathon Truth/Lies 1 contract walkthrough

The contract breaks into three tidy objectives, all reachable inside or just outside Flight Control:

  • Acquire a Transponder on the second floor of Flight Control.
  • Hack the Transponder from the first-floor terminal.
  • Upload malware to the UESC dropships outside Flight Control.

Where is the Transponder in Flight Control?

I go straight to the entrance I mark below because wasting time wandering is how runs spiral. The door you want is visible from the POI approach; take it, climb the stairs, and at the top turn left.

The Transponder sits on a table inside the room ahead and will be highlighted by your objective marker. If you hear other players nearby, wait for a gap; grabbing the device is the only thing that matters in this step.

The second-floor flight ops room looks like any control hub in a shooter — consoles, cables, and a lonely table near the far window.

Walk up the stairs, turn left at the top, and enter the room. The Transponder is plain to see and the objective marker will point it out. Grab it; there’s no special lock or mini-puzzle to waste time on.

How do you hack the Transponder at the first-floor terminal?

I drop down one level immediately after pickup because the terminal is on the first floor and leaving the Transponder in hand invites other players to interrupt. The quest marker leads you to the console — interact and the hack sequence begins.

The hack itself is simple: interact, hold through the prompt, and watch the progress. If you get interrupted, move behind the console or use cover abilities until it finishes. I prefer a brief sprint away, then return to complete the upload without firefights.

From outside, the dropships sit clustered near the perimeter — obvious, exposed, and tempting for anyone who likes risk for a reward.
How to upload malware to dropships outside of Flight Control

Follow the marker outside Flight Control, hop the low wall, and you’ll see the UESC dropships. Go beneath them and interact to upload the malware; it’s a single interaction and the final contract check happens immediately after.

If someone contests the upload, I bait a short fight near cover and then finish under the ship. You can race for the upload and still leave with the rewards if you’re decisive.

I use Bungie’s in-game markers and the objective pop to keep things linear, and I check Moyens I/O screenshots if the map feels unclear. The whole run is faster once you stop treating the Transponder like a prize and start treating it like a task.

Would you rather ghost the map and move unseen, or turn Flight Control into a battlefield to force the issue?
